The Attorney General Alliance annual meetings areย takingย place in Sun Valley, Idaho, starting Monday and ending Thursday.
According to itsย website, โThe Attorney General Alliance (AGA) began as the Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG), a 501c3 nonprofit organization and a bipartisan group of 15 western states and three territories. Built on a foundation of fostering collaboration between western AG offices, CWAG has long maintained a focus on issues in the fields of Native American, natural resources, public lands, minerals, and energy law.โ
โTogether, we are an alliance of Attorneys General, federal, state, and foreign officials, and public and private sector partners throughout the world who come together to address complex issues in law and policy,โ it adds.
The opening dayย agendaย includes a dinner and remarks by Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden. There's also a hospitality event reserved for attendees that are 21 years of age and older.
The second day of events on Tuesday includes remarks by Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser. There's also a discussion roundtable called โThe Ginsburg-Scalia Initiative.โ It is described as follows: โAs CWAG/AGA Chair, Attorney General Weiser's initiative, appropriately named The Ginsburg/Scalia Initiative, highlighted how leaders can address the rising levels of tribalism, or political sectarianism, by following the lead of Justices Ginsburg and Scalia. This panel will highlight the successes of the year and continue to focus on how we might work towards a more perfect union through listening, dialogue, and collaborative problem-solving.โ
Other events that day are titled, โAlgorithms in Banking & Finance,โ โMemoriam of North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem,โ โSocial Justice & Economic Empowerment Session,โ โRegulatory Challenges and Opportunities in Cryptocurrency and Data Privacy,โ โCritical Infrastructure: Evolving Cybersecurity Threats and Changing Roles of Attorneys General,โ and โThe Modern Public Square: Privacy & Artificial Intelligence.โ
On Wednesday, various meetings and breakfasts are scheduled, as well as breakout sessions titled, โThe Truth Effect,โ โEvolving Litigation Trends,โ โExecutive Excellence: Secrets from the C-Suite,โ โSupreme Court Review,โ โDevices and the Future: Maintaining Customer Trust in an Innovation Era,โ โThe Direct Selling Industry: Oversight & Self-Regulation,โ โModernizing Government Practices,โ and โHelping Victims of Crime Pursue Justice.โ
The final day's events on Thursday include a โCannabis Update.โ
The event description says, โProfessionals from the Cannabis bar will provide Attorneys General an update of the law in this ever-evolving area. Panelists will discuss progress in legalization efforts at the state level, some of the new policy debates getting attention โ such as social equity movements, cannabis lounges and Delta-8 THC โ and the status of changes to federal law that could impact the industry.
There's a hospitality event each night of the annual gathering, with the exception of the last day, as it adjourns at noon.
The Attorney General Alliance is among several such groups of the states' top law enforcers, including the National Association of Attorneys General, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) and the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA).
