In a Twitter exchange that played out early Wednesday morning, Elon Musk indicated support for a potential presidential bid from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Mayra Flores โ who was the recipient of Musk's first-ever Republican vote โ flipped Texas' 34th congressional seat in a special election last night.
With her win, Flores will become the first Mexican-born American elected to Congress.
As reported by The Texan,
โFlores has said she prioritizes border security and pro-life legislation.
Abbott framed Flores' victory as a foothold for Republicans in a historically Democratic area of the state.
โCongress just got more Republican. Texas just got more red. The future is looking bright red in Texas,โ Abbottย wroteย on social media.โ
Texas' 34th District was formerly held by Filemon Vela, a Democrat who held the seat since winning it in 2012. Vela stepped down earlier this year to take a role with Washington, DC-based lobbying shop Akin Gump.

Hooray awesome
You canโt have our governor. Florida needs him for one more term, then he can run.
ELON, YOU CANNOT “SPREAD” THE “REPUBLICAN VOTES”. REPUBLICANS NEED TO “STAND TOGETHER” AND VOTE FOR “PRESIDENT TRUMP” IN 2024! WE NEED GOV. DESANTIS TO “WIN” IN HIS OWN STATE OF FLORIDA, AS GOV., TO KEEP OUR STATE OF FL “FREE” FROM ALL THESE “CORRUPT” “POLITICIANS”! THE MORE “WE” HAVE RUNNING, THE BIGGER CHANCE “WE” HAVE OF “LOSING” … SPREADING THE PEOPLES VOTES, MAKES IT “EASIER” FOR THESE “CHEATING” “SOCIALIST DEMS” TO WIN, BECAUSE THEY “KNOW” BY “DIVIDING” A PARTY, IS A “SURE WAY OF “LOSING” A PARTY”. IN ORDER TO “SAVE” OUR BELOVED AMERICA, WE NEED “RED” IN “EVERY STATE”, SO THAT OUR PRESIDENT TRUMP WILL GET THE SUPPORT THRU’ OUT OUR AMERICA. WE MUST STAND TOGETHER AND GET RID OF ALL THE “TRASH” WE HAVE WORKING IN “OUR GOVERNMENT!” LET US STAND “TOGETHER AS ONE” … THEN WE CAN “MAKE AMERICA” “GREAT’ “AGAIN”! GOD BE WITH THE “TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS”! AMEN.
I love Trump and believe he accomplished more than another other President in recent history; especially considering the constant lies and treasonous opposition he faced.
However, that said, perhaps Trump’s biggest flaw is that he feels the need to aggressively respond to every perceived sleight, no matter how small, and seemingly lacks the discipline to โpick his battlesโ and ignore the trivial stuff that is of no import. KellyAnn Conway was one of his most ardent, steadfast, continuous supporters for his entire term and beyond. To narcissistically jump to contradict her (regardless of whoโs right} is a serious flaw. Moreover he’s often been blind to the treachery of avowed supporters or RHINO’s. I.E., his recent support of Dr. Oz and Kevin McCarthy and his past support of Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell. Thatโs why I think we need to move to DeSantis for 2024. Heโs every bit the fighter that Trump is but a more concise and articulate speaker. He doesnโt back down but presents conservative positions in a simple but clear way that is easy to understand and hard to debate. He doesnโt wander off track or off point as Trump has the propensity to do. He also seems to have a better grasp on who his real allies are. So DeSantis in 2024 and maybe he can use Trump as his primary economic advisor.
DON’T BE FOOLED: voting Republican only amounts to a slight sift to the right on some issues.
The fact is Republicans are not conservatives, at least not as can only be determined by the Only One with the authority to determine what constitutes right and left – the same One with the exclusive authority to determine what constitutes good and evil:
“In politics, everything revolves around the positioning of right, left, and center. Youโre either rightwing, leftwing, or a centrist. Politicians and non-politicians alike employ all three terms as if thereโs a consensus on the parameters for those designations. Even if this were true, who gets to determine whatโs right, left, and center, and how are those determinations made? Over time, the parameters shift (always further to the left), so how is someone on the right to know heโs now a centrist or a centrist to know heโs now on the left?…
“There are no answers to these questions because there is no standard for these terms. The terms are completely arbitrary, defined at any given time by finite man and his fickle ethics rather than by Yahweh1 and His immutable morals…. Although the following example doesnโt specifically address right and left, it illustrates the disparity between manโs ever-changing standard and Yahwehโs never-changing standard:
‘Two people could have walked down any U.S. street in 1930 โ one with a bottle of whiskey under his arm and one with a bar of gold in his pocket, and the one with the whiskey would have been a criminal whereas the one with the bar of gold would have been considered a good law abiding citizen. If the same thing happened in any U.S. city in 1970, the one with the whiskey would be the law abiding citizen and the one with the gold bar would be the criminal.’
“In a mere forty-year period, manโs standard had completely reversed itself. The same transposition of ethics has occurred innumerable times under all governments based upon the traditions of man.
“Isaiah 33:22 and James 4:12 declare that Yahweh is the exclusive legislator. There are no others, period! Anyone who claims the title of legislator (particularly when his โlawsโโwhether commandments, statutes, or judgmentsโare inconsonant with Yahwehโs) is a usurper and is perpetuating the sin begun by Adam and Eve. The same is true for any one of us who would modify Yahwehโs triune law….
“Yahweh is the only lawgiver because as Creator Heโs the only one with the authority to determine what is good and evil. His morals as codified in His commandments, statutes, and judgments determine what is right and left. Anything left of His right(eousness) is left, liberal, and ungodly….”
