The Iranian government is firing back after the Justice Department indicted an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military operative for plotting the assassination of former National Security Advisor John Bolton. The DOJ charged Shahram Poursafi, of Tehran, with plotting Bolton's murder in retaliation for the assassination of then-Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani. The Quds Force operates under the IRGC and is responsible for โextraterritorial and clandestine military operations.โ (RELATED: Why is Joe Biden Blocking an International Investigation Into Iranian Terrorists?)

Iran rejected the US charges as โbaselessโ.
โIran strongly warns against any action against Iranian citizens under the pretext of these ridiculous and baseless accusations,โ Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said, according to Iranian media.
The US allegation came as Iran weighs a proposed agreement in Vienna talks to revive the 2015 agreement that aims to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
For months Tehran has held up the deal, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), demanding that the United States remove its official designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a sponsor of terrorism.
Bolton served as the 26th National Security Advisor under President Donald Trump.
The U.S. State Department designated Iran a state sponsor of terrorism in 1984. Under the Trump administration, the State Department added the IRGC to the official list of foreign terrorist organizations.

I think Bolton should travel to Tehran to straighten out this misunderstanding personally.
