Michigan Democrats shouldn't get too comfortable heading into November's general election.
A recent survey conducted by Mitchell Research and Communications reported Republican candidate John James, who is running for Michigan's 10th Congressional District, is currently leading Democrat opponent Carl Marlinga 47% to 38%.
James, who unsuccessfully ran for Senate in 2018 and 2020, was previously endorsed by President Donald Trump which gave him a significant boost amongst Michigan conservatives. The former president highlighted James' military service as a helicopter pilot in Iraq, calling him a โfantasticโ candidate.ย
โHe is a job creator and a problem solver who knows how to deliver for Michigan. What's more important during a supply chain crisis than a supply chain expert?โ Trump said in a statement.ย โJohn James is going to be a great Republican member of Congress, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!โ
The new 10th District is considered a potential swing seat, posing a big threat to traditionally-blue Michigan. The seat is open after redistricting because U.S. Rep. Andy Levin (D) opted to run for reelection next door in the 11th District.
