Florida voters are finally getting a more complete vision of what the ballot will look like this November and it's a no-brainer.
If Floridians were not already convinced to vote for current Governor Ron DeSantis (R) his opponent's latest announcement should be enough to send voters to the ballot box in droves. Over the weekend, Charlie Crist announced he has chosen Karla Hernandez-Mats, the head of the Miami-Dade teachers union and vice president of the American Federation of Teachers, to be his lieutenant governor.
Hernandez-Mats has come under fire in the past over her controversial stance on education and masking within schools. Crist, who also advocated for lockdowns and virtual education, has aligned himself with who many regards as the โRandi Weingarten of Florida.โ (Related: Randi Weingarten is Gaslighting You)
Crist's decision to pick Hernandez-Mats is almost laughable and begs the question if he's already thrown in the towel. Not only has Governor DeSantis risen to rockstar status amongst Floridians because of his leadership through the Covid-19 pandemic but he's also actually listened to what voters want, unlike Crist.
Analysts and experts have reported that Florida voters' top concerns heading into midterm elections are education and the economy but it's clear Charlie Crist isn't listening. Throughout the pandemic Hernandez-Mats repeatedly pushed to keep schools closed and for children to remain masked despite overwhelming data pointing to the fact children are largely safe from the virus.
โKarla Hernรกndez-Mats, the Randi Weingarten of Florida, is the perfect fit for lockdown lover Crist's unpopular, anti-parents campaign,โ said RNC spokeswoman Julie Friedland.
