CNN is mourning the loss of one of its original anchors. Longtime anchor for the network, Bernard Shaw has passed away at the age of 82 from pneumonia.
Shaw was CNN's first chief anchor and was with the network when it launched on June 1, 1980. He retired from CNN after more than 20 years on February 28, 2001.
The anchor was best known for his coverage of foreign conflicts including the student revolt in Tiananmen Square in May 1989, and the First Gulfย war. Shaw also moderated a number of presidential debates throughout his storied career.
CNN reports:
โHe was our lead anchor for the next twenty years from anchoring coverage of presidential elections to his iconic coverage of the First Gulf War live from Baghdad in 1991,โ CNN president Chris Licht said in a statement on Shaw's passing. โEven after he left CNN, Bernie remained a close member of our CNN family providing our viewers with context about historic events as recently as last year. The condolences of all of us at CNN go out to his wife Linda and his children.โ
Former CNN CEO Tom Johnson said Shaw โexemplified excellence in his lifeโ in a statement.
โAs a journalist, he demanded accuracy and fairness in news coverage. He earned the respect of millions of viewers around the world for his integrity and independence. He resisted forcefully any lowering of ethical news standards or any compromise of solid news coverage. He always could be trusted as a reporter and as an anchor,โ Johnson said.
โBernie was my personal friend and colleague for more than 55 years. I will miss him enormously,โ he added. โMy wife Edwina and I extend our most genuine condolences to Bernie's wife Linda and to his family.โ

Probably the ‘rona vaccine is responsible. It’s killing off a lot of the vaccinated and boosted due to changes in the blood. Scary stuff. Avoid it if you can.
Vaccines “change” your blood by causing B-cells in your blood to produce antibodies against an antigen (usually a protein that your body does not make). Catching a disease “changes” your blood in the same way, but with the added dangers of long-term or permanent organ damage or even death.
Did you know that your chance of dying from heart disease or stroke is increased for at least six months after recovering from Covid? That’s because the virus physically damages your circulatory system.
I’d much rather take a vaccine that only induces my immune system to produce B and T cells, and avoid the dangers of actually catching a disease.
Please stop inserting vaccine misinformation into unrelated topics.
You’re a nut job to even consider the Covid related shots to be vaccines. They are not. Our wonderful gubment, along with Big Pharma had to change the official definition of a “vaccine” before they could call the crap that is being shot into millions of Americans a vaccine.
Sounds like a really good man with great ethics. Wonder where CNN lost their
integrity? RIP sir
There is no rest for the wicked saith my God. Heโs suffering the vengeance of everlasting fire! He more than deserves it too. No commie trash allowed in heaven.
Hooray 1 less lefty newscaster
Amen! Only a couple of million to goโฆ..
Bernie was not bad. He was old school Liberal, not like the modern day nut job Leftist freaks on several of the MSM networks.
No Bernie was the exact same evil trash as the modern liberal retard moron. They had to restrain themselves and remain hidden when conservatives and Christians could rebuke their lefty stupidity.
Good riddance Baghdad Bernie. Enjoy suffering the vengeance of everlasting fire you commie dog.
You know someone is going to ask… “You mean that English playwright who wrote ‘Pygmalion’ and… some other things?… What? He was Irish? Then… wow, He really hid his accent on CNN!”
