An iconic game show that survived both the breakdown of the network era and the rise of streaming services may soon be coming to an end.
At least as we know it.
That's according to Pat Sajak himself, who told โEntertainment Tonightโ that his time hosting โWheel of Fortuneโ will soon be at an end.
Though he hinted he's willing to do one more season of spins.
Fox News reports:
โYears go by fast. We're getting near the end. It's been a long [time]. We're not going to do this for another 40 years. The end is near,โ the TV icon indicated.ย
โIt's an honor to have been in people's living rooms for that long. People were out there welcoming us. We're happy and proud.โ
โWheel of Fortuneโย premiered on television in 1975, and Sajak started hosting it in 1981. Co-host Vanna White joined Sajak in 1982.
Chuck Woolery was the show's first host from 1975 to 1981.
Sajak and White have both renewed their contracts with the show through the 2023-24 season.
โIn most television shows by this time, you would have said, โThat's probably enough,' but this show will not die,โ Sajak joked. โIt appears I may go before the show.โ
