At a time when every state is effectively a border state in America today, a track record of supporting policies favorable to migrants and asylum seekers may prove to be the Achilles' heel of one swing seat Democrat doing his best to hold onto his congressional seat this November.
Centrist โBlue Dogโ Democrat Jared Golden of Maine's 2nd Congressional District is being called out for supporting what was essentially a migrant welfare program during his time in the state legislature.
The Washington Free Beacon has more on the radical legislation that Golden supported as a member of the Maine State Senate in 2015:
โAs a state legislator, Rep. Jared Golden championed a bill in 2015 that declared asylum-seeking immigrants eligible for the state's General Assistance program, which provides free hotels, meals, and other essentials to elderly and homeless Mainers. As a result, an estimated 1,200 immigrants are now receiving emergency housing in Portland and are unable to work until they receive government approval, a process that can take several months. Portland officials in Mayย informedย federal immigration agencies that the city's hotels reached full capacity and are unable to shelter additional asylum seekersโjust as federal funds for the program are set to expire.
โฆ Maine's migrant troubles could pose a problem for Golden โฆ as he faces a tight reelection campaign against former Republican congressman Bruce Poliquin. Golden has tried to distance himself from the Biden administration's immigration policyโwhich isย supportedย by just 33 percent of Americansโintroducingย legislation in May that would prevent the president from ending Title 42, a Trump-era policy that allows immigration authorities to turn away asylum seekers at the border. As a state legislator, however, Golden welcomed an unprecedented number of asylum-seeking immigrants to his state with some of the most expansive welfare benefits in the nation.โ
โฆ Golden helped lead the effort toย passย the 2015 migrant welfare measure in the state House in an 81-63 vote, which largely fell along party lines. State Democrats moved to pass the measure after then-Maine governor Paul LePage (R.) in 2014ย haltedย state relief to cities that allowed asylum seekers to receive welfare, which he claimed was illegal. In a 2015 op-ed, the Maine Democrat dismissed criticism from Republicans that welfare for asylum seekers would lead to a shortage of funds for other programs.โ
When questioned about Golden's track record, his senior campaign advisor Bobby Reynolds told the Free Beacon that โthe measure had strong Republican support in the state's Senate, but would not comment on whether Golden regretted his vote.โ
The Cook Political Report rates the race for Maine's larger rural 2nd District as a โToss-Up.โ The seat, which includes the cities of Lewiston and Bangor, has a Partisan Voter Index (PVI) of R+6. It is one of only eight congressional districts won by former President Donald Trump in 2020 while being represented by a Democrat.

All democrats should be in trouble with the voters. They are the ones that refuse to enforce our immigration laws allowing the illegals free access to our country. They provide these criminals with more government assistance than they do to our own citizens that are just as needy. If we don’t purge all democrats from our government these next two election cycles while we still have that chance, they will destroy our constitutional republic, and install their own twisted version of a socialist government, with them staying in power ,of course.
Good send migrants to Maine then too

Well, it looks like Texas needs to send some bus load to Maine beings they are fighting for immigrants to come, they need to get their share too. And every blue state needs to get at least two to five busloads, I would say at least five. So, Texas, for forget there is more Blue States to make sure they get what they ask more.
Sorry folks, there AIN’T no such thing as a moderate Democrat. All DemonCrats or DemoCreeps. Believe you me. And there are just enough RINO Republicans to aid and abet them in any treasonous outrage to thwart the Constitution.
