Mary Elizabeth Truss has become the shortest reigning prime minister in the history of the United Kingdom.
After a disastrous six weeks in office, the Tory leader resigned this morning. Truss succeeded Boris Johnson as prime minister after defeating Rishi Sunak's leadership challenge to lead the Conservative Party.
Sky News reports:
In a statement read outside Downing Street, Ms Truss said: โI came into office at a time of great economic and international instability.
โFamilies and businesses were worried about how to pay their bills.โ
She said she was elected โwith a mandate to change thisโ, adding: โWe delivered on energy bills.โ
โ I recognise, though, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party,โ she said.

Sounds like a hidden war is ongoing within the government of theUK!
So much for possibility of her becoming the new Margaret Thatcher who brought England back from the edge of economic doom as the path to socialism collapsed. Thatcher successfully brought England back toward capitalism/ free markets and prosperity for working people. Reagan, Thatcher and the pope were the 3 main reasons why Russian Communism collapsed and east Europe had a new chance for freedom.
In 2002 on a train a Germany I met a Brit from Brighton who advised me that British subjects at or beneath the ‘poverty line’ were: 40%. I would wager that the number today is much higher. The Empire is flooded and drained by immigrants from its former colonies?
