The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled that any general election mail-in ballots with inaccurate or missing dates must be set aside and not counted by county boards of election.
The ruling is in accordance with a law allowing all voters in the key swing state to cast ballots by mail. It came as a blow to the Democratic Party-led Pennsylvania Department of State, which has insisted counties count ballots with inaccurate or missing dates.
As CNN reports:
โWe hereby direct that the Pennsylvania county boards of elections segregate and preserve any ballots contained in undated or incorrectly dated outer envelopes,โ the court said in a Tuesday order in response to a lawsuit from the Republican National Committee, the Republican Congressional Committee and the Republican Party of Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvaniaย requires voters toย sign and date the outer envelopeย when mailing in a ballot.
The case is the result of the lawsuit brought by state and national Republicans last month that alleged Pennsylvania's acting secretary of commonwealth was circumventing the General Assembly by telling county boards to count ballots returned in a timely manner, but without a dated envelope.
Pennsylvania's Department of State said it was reviewing the order but said it โunderscores the importance of the state's consistent guidance that voters should carefully follow all instructions on their mail ballot and double-check it before returning it.โ
In October, the Supreme Court of the United States threw out a ruling from the Third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals allowing improperly submitted mail-in ballots to be counted in a 2021 Pennsylvania election that was decided by five votes out of 65,333.
The Supreme Court's ruling was 7-2 with Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson in the minority.

A correct decision.
And who is going to enforce this ruling at all the voting facilities ???????
My question, too.
Hooray like to see applied nationwide or Red States
Do you think that Republicans would have a problem with disallowing ballots that lack the integrity requirements of voting ?? Nope those requirements should apply nationwide because the requirements are right & fair for ANYONE voting.
