The United States Supreme Court has given the green light to release former President Donald Trump's tax records to the Democratic-ledย House Ways and Means Committee.
The committee has long argued that it's necessary to obtain said records to review how theย IRSย audits presidential tax returns.
Trump's financial records were set to be turned over to the Ways and Means Committee before the midterms. However, lawyers for the 45th president filed an emergency application requesting the delay with theย Supreme Courtย one day before their scheduled release by the Treasury Department. In response, Chief Justice John Roberts put a temporary hold on a lower court order requiring the release of Trump's records.
Asย American Liberty Newsย reported at the time:
Since 2019, congressional Democrats have sought the former president's tax returns. On Thursday, theย Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit unanimously denied Trump's latest court bid to keep his 2015-20 tax returns and those of his businesses out of the hands of theย House Ways and Means Committee.
Today's development is a major loss for the former president. But time isn't on the Democrats' side.

CBS News further reports:
The latest order from the full court dissolves an interim stay issued by Chief Justice John Roberts, who oversees emergency matters arising from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, thatย kept the House panelย from obtaining Trump's records. There were no noted dissents.
The dispute between Trump and the Ways and Means Committee arose from an April 2019 request from Chairman Richard Neal to the Internal Revenue Service for Trump's individual tax records and those of eight of his business entities for 2013 to 2018. Neal, a Massachusetts Democrat, made the request under a federal law that allows the Ways and Means chairman to request certain individuals' tax returns.
Neal is seeking the returns to determine whether Trump and his companies are complying with tax laws, and to oversee whether the IRS audit of the former president was conducted โfully and appropriately.โ
At the time, the Treasury Department declined to comply, arguing the request was not supported by a legitimate legislative purpose. House Democrats then sued the IRS and department to force them to turn over the tax information.

Well, at least it sets a precedent for January 2023.
Exactly! Now precedent has been set to demand the tax returns from Biden, Hunter and James Biden. Also all correspondence between Joe and his attorney, and all bank records. Republicans better get on this on Jan 3, – or else!
Once again the headline is totally misleading for the Supreme Court did not rule Bush’s biggest mistake did.
Who will be the new Ways and Means Chairman? The demonRATS wanting tax returns; maybe the republicans will chase the Biden criminalsโthe REAL criminals.
If the committee needs “records to review how theย IRSย audits presidential tax returns,” seems odd that s sample of one 4-year President would be sufficient. because his returns may not reflect IRS audit methods for other Presidents. Trump should hold out to return his with those of other Presidents — like Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden. Returns from VP’s might also be beneficial. The current demand reflects complete bias.
Now when the tables turn in 2024 we can do the same, examine the tax records of Chao Bai Deng and Dr. Fau Xi and their Chink buddies.
