Could West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin be quietly mulling a challenge to Joe Biden's second term in the White House?
Manchin, a moderate Democrat, is expected to face a contentious uphill reelection battle in two years and is already facing Republican challengers in a state considered a GOP stronghold. According to the Washington Examiner, a West Virginia political expert says those factors could push Manchin to set his sights on higher office, avoiding a tough Senate reelection battle but thrusting him into a whole other type of war.
On radio station WAJR's showย โTalk of the Town,โ Fairmont State University professor Greg Noone cited strong GOP candidates, including Gov. Jim Justice, R-W.Va., as a reason Manchin should consider a White House run.
โI think Joe Manchin can have an impact on the Democratic Party โ he can pull the Democratic Party back to the center,โ Noone said. โHe can argue what Joe Biden argued a few years ago, which is: โI'm electable in November.'โ
Manchin is one of the multiple Democrat lawmakers to cast doubt on Biden's ability to succeed against a strong Republican opponent in 2024.
Earlier this year, Sen. Manchin refused to endorse Biden for a second term.
As American Liberty News previously reported:
โJake, I'm not getting involved in any election right now. 2022, 2024, I'm not speculating on it,โ Manchin answered.
โPresident Biden is my president right now, and I'm going to work with him and his administration to the best of my ability to help the people in my state of Westย Virginiaย and this country. And we have agreements,โ he said.
โWe have respectful agreements where we respect each other, and we work through them. So, this is what people are upset about. Everything is about the next election,โ he added.
West Virginia Attorney General and failed 2018 Senate hopefulย Patrick Morriseyย has already been named a likely challenger to seek Manchin's seat.
While speaking toย The Hill, Morrisey said Manchin lost significant political capital when he voted in favor of President Biden'sย Inflationย Reduction Act, which included major components of President Biden's agenda.
Earlier this month, Rep. Alex Mooney, R- W.Va., announced that he will run for Senate in 2024 in a bid to unseat Sen.ย Joe Manchin.

Who cares, he already showed us we can’t trust him.
Well, I don’t doubt for a minute that we’ll have another total sea of losers on the Democratic hopefuls list for 2024, just like we did in 2020. Of course, maybe they can once again commit enough fraud to install another pathetic whack job in the White House for a further term of ruination.
Manchin might split the demotard party some, but NO chance at much gop crossover support. Switch parties joe, your only chance at holding your senate seat, you’ll NEVER be president.
Traitor, joe, should run for the hills, after the stupid mistake, he got conned into, by the biggest con man, of all.lying, crying, chuck tne smuck schumer, the dirty, rotten, low=life, con artist of all.
I would love to see Manchin or Gabbard run with DeSantis. Enough of the extreme left and right trying to control us(communism). Term limit both the House and Senate. Trump scared the heck out of them which is why many from both parties worked to get him out. Itโs embarrassing when you think we created this country to escape the monarchy (communism).
Why am I not seeing my first comment?
