The Cook Political Report's Dave Wasserman is projecting that U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., will hold on to defeat Republican Herschel Walker in today's runoff election.
Wasserman, arguably the most prominent election forecaster in the nation, has consistently predicted election winners ahead of major media outlets.
He called the race earlier today beginning with what's become his de-facto motto, โI've seen enoughโฆโ
Wasserman hasn't been wrong this cycle.
Per Mediaite:
At the time Wasserman called the race, Warnock led by just 200 votes but was over-performing his numbers from last month in counties across the state where Walker had little or no room for error. Most of the state's outstanding votes were in the deep blue Atlanta metro area.
Decision Desk HQ called the race a few minutes later.
Warnock narrowly led Walker in last month's general election, but he failed to cross the 50% threshold needed to avoid the runoff. Without a third candidate in the race, he prevailed Tuesday night.
Both candidates were plagued by accusations of past domestic violence during the campaign. Walker was alsoย accusedย of previously paying for an abortion for the mother of one of his children and demanded she have another.
Though neither Warnock nor Walker received a majority of the vote on Nov. 8, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) was reelected by nearly 8%.
