Send a HeroBox Care Package Today!Ray Epps, the former Marine Sergeant from Arizona at the center of a controversy that sees him as a potential informant for the FBI, or asset for another government agency, was video taped inciting others to riot at the Capitol on January 6. But he didn't only incite rioting, the Trump cap-wearing Epps specifically and repeatedly encouraged others to breach and enter the Capitol building.
His behavior was so contrived that many in the crowd at the Capitol began yelling that he was a โFed.โ
However, not only has he not been charged with any crimes, but his photo, which initially appeared on FBI โWanted' posters, has been scrubbed by the Bureau.
This has raised many questions, primarily from those on the right about who Epps is and what was his role on January 6. Both Tucker Carlson at Fox News and Senator Ted Cruz of Texas have speculated that Epps might be an FBI informant or government asset.
The Democratic-led House committee investigating Jan. 6, released a statement following its hearing, claiming to have interviewed Epps andย sayingย he's not a โfed.โ
But this only prompted further questions
The Washington Postย quotedย Cruz during his recent questioning of a senior FBI official on the January 11 Senate hearing on domestic terrorism :
โMr. Epps has not been charged with anything,โ Cruz later continued. โNo one's explained why a person videoed urging people to go to the Capitol, a person whose conduct was so suspect the crowd believed he was a fed, would magically disappear from the list of the people the FBI was looking at.โย
FBI executive assistant director for national security Jill Sanborn replied: โI am aware of the individual. I don't have the specific background of him.โ
Soon after the hearing The Epochย Times contactedย Epps' attorney,ย former FBI agent John Blischak, who said about Epps:ย โHe was interviewed by the FBI in Arizona. I was present during that interview, and unequivocally, he is not an FBI informant.โ
Asked whether Epps is an asset for any government agencyโlaw enforcement, intelligence, or otherwiseโBlischak said, โNot to my knowledge.โ
Accordingย to The Epoch Times:
Blischak also denied any deals or agreements between Epps and the FBI. He said he's representing Epps โin the event that he becomes a potential defendant in any action brought as to what happened on Jan. 6, 2021.โ
โWe've been working with the House Committee,โ Blischak. โThat's what we've been doing.โย
When asked to characterize Epps's actions on Jan. 5 and 6, Blischak said, โMerely present.โ
As to why his client hasn't been charged, Blischak added, โBecause he's not guilty! He has a good attorney.โ However, it is doubtful these answersย will end the speculation or the questions.
