BAD YEAR FOR BALDWIN โย A lawsuit over his fatal shooting on the set of his low-budget western โRustโ isn't all Alec Baldwin has to deal with. Now it's also a lawsuit by the family of a fallen U.S. Marine. (RELATED: Baldwin Shooting Elicits a Familiar โ and Flawed โ Response)
Shortly after giving moneyย to the widow of a Marine killed during Biden's reckless retreat from Afghanistan in August to help her with their newborn daughter, Baldwin publicly slandered the same Marine's sister, calling her an โInsurrectionistโ because she attended the January 6, 2021 protest in DC โ though not the Capitol riot.
In response, the furious and aggrieved family of the dead Marine and his sister is suing the 63-year-old Baldwin for $25 million, alleging defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
According to court documents: โBaldwin's conduct was negligent and reckless as he should have known that making the allegations he did against plaintiffs to his millions of followers would cause plaintiffs' harm.โ
So, what's the story?
According to Fox News, earlier this month Baldwin gave $5,000 to the widow of fallen Marine Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum who was killedย Aug. 26 at Kabul airport in the suicide bombingย during Biden's disastrous withdrawal from the country.ย Foxย noted that:
When the actor heard of McCollum's story, he reached out to McCollumn's sister, Roice, and gave her $5,000 to give to her brother's widow, Jiennah Crayton. He later called the check a โtribute to a fallen soldier.โ However, on Jan. 3, Roice shared a photo on Instagram that clearly gave Baldwin second thoughts about his tribute.ย
The image showed her at the Washington Monument on the day of the insurrection in 2021. According to the lawsuit, Roice was indeed among the protestors who showed up to the march. However, the court documents reveal that, while she was protesting the vote certification ofย Joe Bidenย that day, she did not take part in the rioting nor any unlawful activity.ย
The storyย continues:
Despite never being charged with any crime, the documents show direct messages between Roice and Baldwin in which he labels her a โrioter.โ
โWhen I sent the $ for your late brother, out of real respect for his service to this country, I didn't know you were a January 6th rioter,โ Baldwin wrote.ย
Roice responded: โProtesting is perfectly legal in the country and I've already had my sit down with the FBI. Thanks, have a nice day!โ
Even though Roice did nothing wrong, was not involved in any rioting whatsoever, was never inside the Capitol, and was interviewed and cleared by the FBI, Baldwin chose to slander her publicly. (RELATED: CBS News Poll on Jan. 6 Hides That Most Americans Call It โa Protest That Went Too Far')
He reposted her photo to his Instagram account calling Roice an โinsurrectionistโ to his 2.4 million Instagram followers in a since-deleted post.
Roice and her family say they were then flooded with hateful comments. According to court documents, one of the most disturbing said, โGet raped and die, worthless cโ [kiss emoji]. Your brother got what he deserved.โ
What's worse the family says, rather than walk back his statements, Baldwin continued to label Roice an โinsurrectionistโ and โrioterโ in comments engaging with critics.
They add in the court filings that: โBaldwin's comments were false, outrageous, defamatory, irresponsible, vindictive and caused โ and continue to cause โ plaintiffs' severe emotional distress. Instead of being able to focus on grieving LCPL McCollum's death and raising his newborn daughter, plaintiffs and their family are now fearful for their lives.โ
Considering Baldwin's history of reckless and ill-informed comments, tweets, videos and posts, perhaps he should have his public comments privileges revoked by his wife Hilaria, if not his attorneys.

Sue that white trash Baldwin, for everything you can.
They must smell the money. It wasn’t enough that he sent money to the wife of the fallen soldier. This is just one more action by greedy people against a left wing actor. Nobody really wins. Is this what our country has become?
It’s the repeated attacks, insults, and slurs (when he knows they are false) that provoked this legal action.
I’ll lay even-money Baldwin could get out of this lawsuit by acknowledging his mistakes and apologizes, but instead he’ll likely spend tens of thousands of dollars on lawyers trying to argue that he’s right (when he clearly isn’t).
