Neil Young has never shied away from sharing his political views. Long known for his liberal beliefs, Young has gone so far as to blast Barack Obama for, in his opinion, being too far to the right.
Now, the aging rocker is threatening to cut ties with audio streaming giant Spotify if they don't end their contract with Joe Rogan.
As Rolling Stone reports:
Neil Youngย posted a since-deleted letter to his management team and record labelย demanding that they remove his music fromย Spotify. โI am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines โ potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,โ he wrote. โPlease act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.โ
He added that โ[Spotify] can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both.โ
In December a group of doctors, educators and epidemiologists signed an open letter asking Spotify to stop broadcasting โThe Joe Rogan Experience.โ
The letter followed Rogan's interview with Dr. Robert Malone. Malone received universal acclaim earlier in his career for pioneering the use of mRNA for developing vaccines. While talking with Rogan, he cited the controversial theory of mass formation psychosis to question COVID measures.

Afterward, the cancel culture floodgates burst wide open, as Mediate explains:
While Rogan's interview with Malone is still on Spotify, YouTube removed the episode from its platform while Twitterย suspendedย the doctor's account this month for breaking its guidelines on Covid-19 misinformation.
Rogan has the most popular podcast in the world. But even before Malone's appearance, progressives became more and more critical of Rogan's outlook on personal freedom and public health.
Many on the left accuse him of spreading COVID misinformation and giving a microphone to fringe right-wingers.
For the left, Rogan's COVID fatigue is tantamount to heresy. Indeed, anyone who deviates from the party orthodoxy is in trouble. Former New York Times editor Bari Weiss found that out after sharing her exasperation with HBO's Bill Maher.

TMZ adds:
Weiss and Maher railed on COVID restrictions โฆ talking about the nonsensical restrictions in restaurants โฆ you can eat and talk and laugh with others maskless, but when you walk to the bathroom you have to wear a mask.
She also maintained liberals are with her, but are afraid to speak out for fear their critics will label them anti-vaxxers and Trumpers.
But many on the left, like Young, weren't having it.
