Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., has introduced a resolution that he says puts the American people first, not โthe interests of the military-industrial complex.โ
The Florida congressman, known for his non-interventionist stances, announced earlier today he filed a War Powers Resolution demanding Joe Biden remove all U.S. forces from Syria. (RELATED: Justice Department Will Not Prosecute Matt Gaetz)
Gaetz accused the administration of not having a strategic goal to define the desired end state for the United States in the war-torn country. (RELATED: DeSantis Says No โBlank Check' for Ukraine Without Strategic Objective)
Gaetz's push comes one week after four U.S. service members and a working dog were injured when the seniorย ISISย leader they were attempting to apprehend detonated his suicide vest.
As Fox News reports:
His resolution would mandate that President Biden remove U.S. armed forces from Syria no later than 15 days after the date of the resolution's adoption.
โSince the invasion of Ukraine, we seem to have turned our attention away from some of America's entanglement in Syria,โ Gaetz told Fox News Digital. โAnd the purpose of my legislation is to force members of Congress to vote on record regarding whether they think we ought to continue Obama's war in Syria. President Obama kicked off our involvement โฆ and now we still find ourselves in the middle of a Syrian civil war with Russia and Turkey and Iran, all present in a very confined neighborhood.
โAnd it strikes me as a powder keg for very dangerous escalation,โ he added. โAnd as we find ourselves here in 2023, we ought to ask ourselves, โDo we really want to continue the Obama-era policy of engaging in a Syrian civil war?' I don't think we should.โ
Gaetz, who sits on the House Armed Services Committee, filed the resolution following a Feb. 17 report from U.S. Central Command that four U.S. service members were wounded during a U.S. and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) helicopter raid in northeastern Syria that killed a senior ISIS leader.
As American Liberty News reported at the time, all U.S. casualties, including the K-9, were in stable condition:
The raid was carried out with allied members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
CENTCOM reported no SDF or civilian casualties.

Analysts believe between 6,000 and 10,000 ISIS fighters remain at large in Syria and Iraq, a significant decrease from an estimated 18,000 two years ago.

All the cliches about ‘freedom and sovereignty’ in Eastern Europe sound nice to the ear, however Brandon may have other reasons for dragging us into WWIII.
