Beto O'Rourke knows that the rhetoric used to cater to national Democrat interests in his two most recent campaigns has no place in his home state of Texas.ย
The former congressman and failed Senate and presidential candidate is singing a different tune now that he has little to gain from catering to leftist special interests.
O'Rourke is currently running in the Democrat primary for governor in his home state of Texas. At a recent campaign event, he flip-flopped on previous statements he has made regarding the Second Amendment.
While campaigning in Tyler, Texas, this week, O'Rourke told reporters:ย
โI'm not interested in taking anything from anyone. What I want to make sure that we do is defend the Second Amendment,โ he said. โI want to make sure that we protect our fellow Texans far better than we're doing right now. And that we listen to law enforcement, which Greg Abbott refused to do. He turned his back on them when he signed that permitless carry bill that endangers the lives of law enforcement in a state that's seen more cops and sheriff's deputies gunned down than in any other.โ
That is a far cry for from Beto's past rhetoric regarding firearms and the Second Amendment.
During his bid for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president, O'Rourke famously said โHell yes we're gonna take your AR-15, your AK โ 47โ during the primary debates in 2019.
Those statements drew praise from fellow Democrats, and Joe Biden even pledged to make Beto his gun confiscation czar during his campaign for president in 2020.
Although he did win the presidency, Biden has made no such moves. Instead he nominated the worst ATF nominee in history โ David Chipman โ who Biden couldn't get approved by Congress.
Despite this national rejection of gun grabbers, Beto still stood by his past statements when he announced his campaign for Governor of Texas.
During an appearance on CNN's โState of the Unionโ program in November of last year, he was asked by host Dana Bash if he still planned to pry semi-automatic weapons from the hands of law-abiding Americans.ย
He responded to Bash, saying, โLook, we are a state that has a long, proud tradition of responsible gun ownership. And most of us here in Texas do not want to see our friends, our family members, our neighbors shot up with these weapons of war. So yes, I still hold this view.โ

Beto seems to be taking a page from Biden’s play book. Tell the people what they want to hear or don’t say anything at all, until you get elected, then do the opposite of what you said. But I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the gun owners in Texas would not be that crazy about what he said anyway. He was talking about doing away with the no permit carry law. Texas gun owners might favor that when pigs fly or Hell freezes over.
Beto, lier lier pants on fire, another Joe Biden.
They must think we are really stupid! On brighter side, their liberal cronies may desert them, because they are stupid, and then nobody will vote for them!
If this isn’t the biggest flip-flop, 180 degree turn for a liberal idiot I don’t what is! Wake up Texas. CSN you imagine how this POS
will act if you elect? Wolf in sheeps’ clothing!
Yeah… Right… not even a useless Regressive Liberal Socialist Democrat Libtard could believe this load of excrement!! When is this jackass liar going to finally go away.
That silver spoon in mouth snot-nosed little punk Beto will do or say anything to get elected. That’s the only reason he did a 180 on guns.
After the lies (promises) Veggie Joe said on the campaign, Beto thinks he can pull the same trick. That rich boy thinks he’s the smartest person in the room, ala Obama, when he’s actually the dumbest

After years of claiming gun confiscation, if elected, he’s now supporting the 2nd Amendment. That’s hypocrisy to the MAX.
If anyone out there believes this man on what he says, I’m willing to sell these same people some vacation property located 10 miles north of Cleveland
The workings of the mind of a democrat ideologist. Eenie, meenie minie mo…..
Shows how the Dems will say “anything” to try and get elected or stay in office; even if it is completely opposite from what they said yesterday! Hypocrites to the max!
Beto is such a “tool”. Whatever he is smoking has confused his mind. All of a sudden he has reinvented himself and now he supports the 2nd Amendment. Do not believe this criminal. He grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth and has accomplished nothing credible. If he ever comes looking to confiscate my weapons, he will be packaged in the Swiss Cheese aisle.
MR Graebe i agree totally another way out of my cold dead hand this 2nd Amd. was written by our forefathers and it is for a goverment we have now.
Beto O’Rourke would sell his mother or his kids to get elected. He is just another Democrat Con Artist. The last time he ran in Texas and got beat, his campaign broke the law about putting signs next to the roadways. Early election day there were Beto signs on freeway entrances plus on every street he had signs next to the road. How could anybody trust anybody that devious? “Beto” isn’t even his real name.
Beto proves Beto wrong, again.
I was going to comment, but all my thoughts about beto have already been covered in depth.
No one cares what this POS says now. We all know what he will do.
