In a move that puts intense pressure on President Joe Biden, the U.S. House of Representatives voted unanimously to force Biden to declassify all intelligence related to the leak of the COVID-19 virus from Communist China's Wuhan Institute of Virology, which had been conducting research on the virus.
The bill, the COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023, is now headed to Biden's desk. Biden must now decide whether to sign it or veto it and continue covering up lab leak intelligence.
“I've been proud to lead this fight for the facts on COVID's origins,” said Sen. Mike Braun, R-Ind., a sponsor of the bill.
“After another unanimous, bipartisan vote today, President Biden must sign our bill to give the American people the facts to make up our own minds on COVID and the Wuhan lab,” said Braun.
“We need to know exactly what public health officials like Dr. Fauci knew about a lab leak when they were publicly downplaying it. The American people deserve transparency, free from censorship or spin. It's time to declassify everything we know about COVID's origins and the Wuhan Institute of Virology, now,” Braun added.
The vote comes after the Department of Energy provided a classified intelligence report to the White House and certain members of Congress concluding the COVID-19 global pandemic was most likely caused by the virus escaping from the Wuhan lab. Should Biden sign it, within 90 days the Director of National Intelligence must “declassify any and all information relating to potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origin of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID–19).”
That information would include “activities performed by the Wuhan Institute of Virology with or on behalf of the People's Liberation Army” and “coronavirus research or other related activities performed at the Wuhan Institute of Virology prior to the outbreak of COVID–19.”
The bill also requires the disclosure of all information of all researchers who fell ill while the Wuhan lab was researching the COVID-19 virus.
