Former Fox News (FNC) host and deposed cable news king Bill O'Reilly had plenty to say following FNC's $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems.
In a blog posted Tuesday night, O'Reilly offered a scathing critique of the legal fallout and the decision by FNC executives to โpublish foolish coverage of the 2020 election.โ
The settlement came hours before the top-rated cable news network was set to go on trial for defaming Dominion.
O'Reilly acknowledged that the settlement means Fox won't have to cough up the entire $1.6 billion Dominion was seeking or endure the potential humiliation of having executives and primetime hosts take the stand. Still, O'Reilly added, Fox continues to face a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit from electronic voting systems company Smartmatic.
FNC also confronts the grim prospect of being sued by angry shareholders, O'Reilly noted.
He continued:
โThis is what happens when money becomes more important than honest information. Since I left FNC [Fox News Channel], the template changed from โFair and Balanced' to โtell the audience what it wants to hear.' And millions of Trump voters, to this day, want to believe the 2020 election was rigged,โ O'Reilly wrote on his blog on Tuesday.
โThat opinion can certainly be presented if you provide a counter opinion โ equal time. However, once the facts begin to overwhelm any point of view, a news agency has an obligation to say that,โ O'Reilly added.
โBecause FNC will not be completely destroyed, the usual far-left loons are disappointed. Wounded is not enough; they want death to the conservative infidels!โ
O'Reilly left Fox under inauspicious circumstances: In 2018, settlements between Fox and female employees accusing O'Reilly of sexual misconduct were publicized, revealing a pattern of misbehavior and intimidation.
