A Republican Texas lawmaker accused of sexual harassment resigned on Monday before facing an expulsion vote on Tuesday.
In aย letterย to Gov. Greg Abbott (R), state Rep. Bryan Slaton resigned from office with no mention of the allegations.
โIt has been an honor to represent my friends, neighbors and the great people and communities of House District 2,โ the lawmaker wrote. โMy decision today is to ensure that their expectations will continue to be met by a new representative who will also work hard on their behalf.โ
Slaton is under investigation for sexual misconduct after a 21-year-old intern and two 19-year-old legislative aides accused the lawmaker of inappropriate behavior.
According to The Daily Caller, Slaton's accusers allege that he repeatedly helped the underage staffers get alcohol, invited them over to his condo and frequently made phone calls to an aide,ย accordingย to the committee report. One of them recalled getting โdrunkโ at his place and staying the night, where she โcould not effectively consent to intercourse.โ
โ[Slaton] engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a subordinate,โ GOP state Rep. Andrew Murr, the committee's chair, previouslyย saidย on the state House floor. โThat behavior was induced by alcohol that Representative Slaton provided to that 19-year-old subordinate.โ
Last month, Slaton's attorney called the allegations โoutrageous.โ
โI look forward to spending more time with my young family, and will continue to find ways to serve my community and all citizens across our great state,โ Slaton stated in the letter.

Just another horny pervert in politics.
Good now prosecute him this has to stop banned for natural life never allowed in any part of government state federal security clearance revoked permanently
Sixxpackk — I continue to be surprised that American Liberty News or any OTHER reputable website, allows scams like yours to be advertised. Very disapointing that such scams and lies are permitted to smutty up the comments section!! ๐ ๐๐๐
So the girls that were invited over were coerced into joining him? Iโm not saying what he did was appropriate, but he didnโt kidnap them. Was it a setup from the get go? They joined his team willingly, then went to his house/apartment knowingly. Why did they suddenly report this as inappropriate? Something seems off with this story.
Perhaps they were plants, trolls or fifth column from the Other Side.
He wouldn’t have had to resign if he simply jumped ship to the Democrat party.
