The Walt Disney Companyย is escalating its feud with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
On Thursday, the entertainment giant announced it is canceling its plans for a new Florida campus in Orlando that would have brought some 2,000 jobs to the state.
The New York Times reported the new Disney venture was a nearly $1 billion investment.

Josh D'Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, told employees in a letter provided to FOX Business that the company is no longer moving forward with its office development in Lake Nona, citing โnew leadership and changing business conditions.โ
Some Disney employees haveย already made the move to Florida, but D'Amaro said in his letter Thursday that the company would discuss those workers' individual situations, โincluding the possibility of moving you back.โ
D'Amaro told employees he remains โoptimistic about the direction of our Walt Disney World business,โ and reiterated the company'sย plans to invest another $17 billionย in the resort. He added, โI hope we're able to do so.โ
When D'Amaro first announced the plans for the Lake Norma campus in 2021, saying the company would move a few thousand employees from its California headquarters to the new location, praising โFlorida's business-friendly climate.โ
Last month, Disney filed a lawsuit against DeSantis alleging he has waged a โrelentless campaign to weaponize government powerโ against the company. (RELATED: Disney Sues Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis)
The suit came as a DeSantis-picked board overseeing the governance of Disney World's operationsย moved to nullifyย Disney's control over a comprehensive development agreement at its 25,000-acre Florida resort.
