The 49-page indictment against former President Donald Trump has been unsealed.
The indictment begins by alleging that Trump shared classified information he was not entitled to possess with people who were not entitled to view it.
Per the charging document, the documents โincluded information regarding defense and weapons capabilities of both the United States and foreign countries; United States nuclear programs; potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attack.โ
CNBC has more:
Among other allegations, the indictment says that Trump showed classifiedย documentsย to other people in the summer of 2021 after leaving office.
One of those documents was a โplan of attackโ that he said was prepared by the Pentagon, while the other was a classified map related to a military operation, the indictment alleges.
The FBI raid of Trump's Florida home last August discovered hundreds of classified documents, which he had failed to turn over to U.S. officials despite months of their efforts to recover them.
The indictment says Trump was aware of the highly sensitive nature of the documents, quoting him at one point as saying: โAs president, I could have declassified it โฆ but this is still secret.โ
Trump is set to be arraigned on Tuesday, one day before his 77th birthday.
