How embarrassing.
In the latest in a long line of mistakes, President Joe Biden appeared to confuseย Ukraineย withย Iraqย on Wednesday after making a blunder just one day before.
A reporter asked Biden on Wednesday morning to comment on the extent to which Russian President Vladimir Putin has been โweakenedโ by the Wagner Group coup.
โIt's hard to tell but he is clearly losing the war in Iraq, he's losing the war at home and he has become a bit of a pariah around the world,โย Biden said.
Biden made a similar slip-up during a fundraiser in Chevy Chase, Maryland on Tuesday
โIf anybody told you โ and my staff wasn't so sure, either โ that we'd be able to bring all of Europe together in the onslaught on Iraq and get NATO to be completely united, I think they would have told you it's not likely,โ Biden said. โThe one thing Putin counted on was being able to split NATO.โ
During the same remarks, Biden quickly corrected himself after mentioning China when he meant to say India.
โYou probably saw my new best friend โ the prime minister of a little country that's now the largest in the world, China โ I mean, excuse me, India. India is not looking for a permanent alliance, but they're looking for some hedge against โ in the region,โย he said.
The president has face a new wave of concerns over his mental fitness in recent weeks,
A recent NBC Newsย poll found a growing concern overย Bidenโs fitness to serve among voters. More than two-thirds of registered voters โ 68% โ said they have moderate to major concerns about Biden โnot having the necessary mental and physical healthโ to be president.
