Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced Saturday evening he'll be fitted with a pacemaker on Sunday.
The minister of justice and deputy prime minister will stand in for Netanyahu while he undergoes the procedure.
The development comes one week after Netanyahu left the hospital after being admitted for dehydration amid a heat wave. (RELATED: House Speaker Says He Will Invite Israel's Prime Minister If Biden Won't)
At the time, he reported chest pains and briefly lost consciousness.
CNN further reports:
Netanyahu, 73, earlier announcedย on Twitterย he would be fitted with the device, which sendsย electrical pulsesย to the heart.
โI want to update you on what's going to happen,โ Netanyahu said in the video.
โLast week they gave me a monitoring device. The device beeped and said I need a pacemaker, and I need to do that already tonight. I feel great, but I listen to my doctors,โ he added.
โThe doctors tell me that I will be free tomorrow afternoon already,โ said the prime minister. โI will be discharged from the hospital ready to arrive at the Knesset for the vote.โ
The Knesset is set to vote on Netanyahu's judicial overhaul that would significantly weaken the Supreme Court of Israel's ability to review government decisions.
