An autistic girl in the United Kingdom is no longer in custody after saying a female police officer looked like her โlesbian nana.โ The remark, made by a 16-year-old during a home raid by the West Yorkshire Police led to her immediate arrest for committing a โhomophobic public order offence.โ
The department faced substantial backlash online after footage of the girl being dragged from her home went viral. (RELATED: Archbishop Warns Lord's Prayer May Be โProblematic')
As Breitbart reports:
In her post, which has since been deleted, the motherย wroteย according toย The Telegraph:ย โThis is what police do when dealing with autistic children. My daughter told me the police officer looked like her nana, who is a lesbian.
โThe officer took it the wrong way and said it was a homophobic comment [it wasn't]. The officer then entered my home. My daughter was having panic attacks from being touched by them and they still continued to manhandle her.โ
Following the outcry, the police force announced on Friday that it has โnow reviewed the evidence and made the decision to take no further action.โ
โThis concludes the criminal investigation and immediately releases the girl from her bail. Her family has been updated.
