The sliver of the Republican Party that has waged a loud and persistent โwar on wokeโ culture/corporations/campuses, etc., is learning a hard lesson.
Outside the hothouse atmospheres of the very online and the professionally upset, no one seems to care about wokeness. Instead, they are worried about bread and butter issues like jobs, wages and inflation. And among likely Republican voters, the biggest draw isnโt wokeness but law and order. A New York Times poll found that given a choice between a candidate dedicated to โdefeating radical โwokeโ ideology in our schools, media and cultureโ or one who โfocuses on restoring law and order in our streets and at the border,โ the law and order candidate trounced the anti-woke warrior 65 percent to 24 percent.
Another nugget from the Times poll: likely GOP voters say they are more inclined to support the candidate who advocates for protecting โindividual freedom (51 percent) than one who โpromises to protect traditional valuesโ (40 percent).
Despite the state-centric populist demagoguery candidates spout on the campaign trail, it looks like liberty still commands the high ground for now.
Which also may help explain why the anti-wokesters arenโt getting the traction they banked on, at least when it comes to those dreaded โwoke corporations.โ
A Morning Consult poll showed that among GOP primary voters, only 43 percent thought businesses had gone โtoo farโ in promoting โsocial equity and acceptance.โ
The big leaders among theย โgone too far campโ are the usual suspects โ Democrats, the media, colleges and the like.
Some things never change. Just as the perceived threats to the country donโt seem to change, either. The Morning Consult poll found that among GOP voters, the leading perceived threat isโฆinflation (82 percent). โWoke ideologyโ tumbles down the list behind China, illegal immigration, foreign terrorism, Russia and political extremism.
All of which is another way of saying that the way to votersโ hearts remains the same โ itโs through their wallets.
Which is why one should think the candidates will spend more time promoting economic liberty (a novel concept for the current crop) and spend little to no time on stirring votersโ fears.
A fear pitch might get them $5. But itโs unlikely to win an election.

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
They better start caring about this Commie woke BS, it’s only going to get worse if not stopped
Plenty of time to address all the issues, tut the sick economy and the war on energy are #1.
Both need to be tackled simultaneously. Confusion (wokeness) doesn’t support law and order, it breeds chaos and disorder.
Wokeism is a real problem and needs to be addressed forthrightly; however, when taking these polls, they list several things, like inflation, but to address the things most people are choosing, first we need secure elections, and secure borders. Then hopefully, when conservatives once again gain control, all the rest can be addressed, like inflation, China-Russia-North Korea, and wokeism. In addition, in polls, people choose the issues that are closest to them personally, while not seeing the big picture. First things first.
