House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) just greenlighted House Republicans' impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden.
Punchbowl News initially reported that the House Republican Conference was reportedly planning to hold a Thursday meeting for key committee chairs to lay out their latest findings and the status of the investigations into the Biden family.ย House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.)ย are expected to lead Thursday's meeting.ย
On Tuesday, McCarthy said impeachment inquiry is the โlogical next stepโ for the Republican majority. An inquiry is the first step of the impeachment process, where evidence is gathered for the articles, or charges, of impeachment against an official.ย
McCarthy said last month that an impeachment inquiry would only happen with a formal House vote, according to Fox News.
โTo open an impeachment inquiry is a serious matter, and House Republicans would not take it lightly or use it for political purposes. The American people deserve to be heard on this matter through their elected representatives,โ McCarthy told Breitbart News in a statement. โThat's why, if we move forward with an impeachment inquiry, it would occur through a vote on the floor of the People's House and not through a declaration by one person.โ
With such a narrow House majority, Republicans can only afford to lose five votes from their conferenceย in an impeachment inquiry vote.
That means 218 lawmakers will need to support anย impeachment inquiry against Biden. Several GOP lawmakers including Reps. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) and Don Bacon (R-Neb.) have voiced skepticism about impeachment.ย

What took so damn Long??
IF we’re even that lucky (big “if”), our fiery, fearless, and feckless congressmen and senators will vote to proceed with impeachment charges THE DAY BEFORE Trump retakes his oath of office in January of 2025.
Outside of maybe a couple of handfuls or so of our representatives, the rest of these political grifter’s terms ALL need to expire at the very next election opportunity!
Get it done!!! This should be underway already
