Polling released today by Virginia-based consulting group Capen Analytics showed one Republican with a sizeable lead over his primary opponents in the state of North Carolina, which is set to elect a new Governor in 2024.
Mark Robinson is the preferred candidate for the overwhelming majority of North Carolina Republican Primary voters, with over 60% of poll respondents picking him as their top choice.
Robinson currently serves as the state's Lieutenant Governor after first being elected in 2020. He is also the first African-American to hold the office. Robinson announced his intent to run for Governor in April of this year.

A political newcomer, Robinson quickly gained a national conservative platform after a video of him passionately defending gun rights went viral after a speech he made at a Greensboro City Council meeting in April of 2018. That speech has since been seen more than 150 million times.
He has also taken the stage at prominent conservative events such as the National Rifle Association's 2022 Annual Meeting (NRAAM), and even written a book about his life which was released earlier this year.
