Legendary comedian Jim Carrey says he's done enough and had enough of acting.
The 60-year-old stand-up comic-turned-Hollywood icon first told โAccess Hollywoodโ about his decision to take a break from the spotlight Thursday night.
โI really like my quiet life and I really like putting paint on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel like โ and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists โ I have enough,โ Carrey admitted during an interview for his latest movie, โSonic the Hedgehog 2.โ
Perย US Weekly:
After noting that he is โprobablyโ retiring, the Canada native explained, โIt depends, if the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I'm taking a break.โ
Carrey recently weighed in after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars with a take many cheered.
His response showed exasperation with Hollywood's narcissism and praised Rock's restraint.
As Insider's Kirsten Acunaย reportedย at the time:
When King floated the idea that anyone else would've been escorted off the stage by security or โmaybe even arrested,โ Carrey said, โHe should have been.โ
โYou do not have the right to walk up onstage and smack somebody in the face because they said words,โ the โSonic the Hedgehog 2โ actor added.
According to aย statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, Rock declined to file a police report against Smith over the incident.
