In a video published to the social media platform TikTok last week, The Washington Post sought to create a perception of finality regarding anti-gun legislation signed into law by Washington state Governor Jay Inslee on April 25th, claiming that major gun rights groups have been historically unsuccessful in challenging similar moves in the state.
The video discusses the aforementioned gun bills signed into law last week and the subsequent lawsuits filed against the legislation. Although it primarily references suits filed by the Second Amendment Foundation, the skit also includes a line claiming that the Washington AG's office has never lost a legal case against the Second Amendment Foundation or the National Rifle Association.
At the time of publication, the Post's TikTok video had been viewed over 1.5 million times on the platform, making it one of their best-performing ones in recent weeks.
As previously reported by American Liberty News, both groups filed legal challenges to the flurry of anti-Second Amendment legislation.
NRA spokeswoman Amy Hunter exclusively told American Liberty News the following regarding the Washington Post's claims about the group's legal track record in Washington:
โWe've only sued Washington once before the suit we filed last week. That case is Mitchel v. Atkins and it's still ongoing. It has just been remanded to the Ninth Circuit. So, it's disingenuous to say they've never lost a legal case against us because there hasn't been one that's reached a win or a loss.
The NRA HAS won a few cases in Washington state. Just last year, we got a preemption win in the Washington Supreme Court against the city of Edmonds. Bass v. City of Edmonds, 199 Wash. 2d 403, 508 P.3d 172 (2022). We also got preemption wins against the city of Seattle in the WA Court of Appeals in 2020 and 2011. Alim v. City of Seattle, 14 Wash. App. 2d 838, 474 P.3d 589 (2020); Chan v. City of Seattle, 164 Wash. App. 549, 265 P.3d 169 (2011).โ
Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb also told American Liberty News, โThe Washington Post, as usual, is not totally accurate.โ

If it comes out of the Washington Post you can bet it is a lie.
They have to do something and it usually involves propaganda. So there it is. Bragging that they won a contest that never really took place. It’s a good thing the founders aren’t around now to gamble treasure and blood to rid the country of this scourge. Perhaps soon modern patriots will emerge to put them out of business and wrest the country back from their traitorous grasp.
