Federal authorities have arrested former Miami-area Republican Congressman David Rivera on charges connected to the socialist country of Venezuela. Rivera, and a longtime confidant, have been charged with multiple crimes, including conspiracy and failure to register as a foreign agent. The Daily Wire reports: Rivera, who served one term in office from 2011 to 2013, has been allegedly under investigation after signing a $50 million consulting contract from a U.S. affiliate of Venezuela’s socialist government-run oil company under President Nicolas Maduro. A gunman opened fire at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado late Saturday night. Law enforcement apprehended the shooter, who killed at least five people and injured 18.
