Canadian police made the first Freedom Convoy arrests late Thursday evening. In the last three weeks, demonstrators involved in protests against Canada’s oppressive pandemic restrictions and the blockade of Ottawa’s downtown core were given multiple warnings from police and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Now, they’re taking action against the protest organizers. As The Wall Street Journal notes: One of the protest group’s organizers, Chris Barber, was among those arrested. His lawyer, Keith Wilson, said Mr. Barber was arrested on allegations that included counseling to commit mischief and obstruction of justice. The reversal of a Trump-era policy allows taxpayer money to fund abortion referrals at family planning clinics. In 2019, former President Trump instituted the Protect Life Rule, which disqualifies family planning clinics that “provide or promote” abortions from receiving funds under Title X. The federal funding is administered from the Office of Population Affairs in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide public family planning. In California’s 2022-23 Budget Summary, Governor Gavin Newsom allots $20 million to medical students who commit to providing abortions. The general fund will go toward scholarships and loan repayment, as recommended by the California Future of Abortion Council.  Governor Newsom has been an ardent supporter of the abortion industry and committed to keeping abortion in California even if federal laws change. In an unprecedented ruling, Remington Arms Co. will pay $73 million to victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting. The Wall Street Journal reported, The settlement is the largest of its kind and first since a federal law was enacted in 2005 providing gun makers with broad protection from liability in the unlawful use of their weapons, said Timothy Lytton, Georgia State University College of Law professor. Nearly two years since the onset of COVID-19, the Biden Administration is requesting an additional $30 billion in federal aid. As the Wall Street Journal reported, Health and Human Services Department officials outlined the request for additional aid in a briefing with congressional staff on Tuesday. . . Pro-abortion lawmakers are attempting to federally mandate a “right to abortion” by revitalizing the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and inserting it into the U.S. Constitution. Democrats’ efforts began in February of 2021 when the newly inaugurated Biden administration released a Statement of Administration Policy in support of the Equality Act. Leading the world Biden-backed ERA-revival movement is Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.). Rep.
