For years, there was no federally funded research looking at gun violence. The CDC said federal law prohibited it, blaming the Dickey Amendment. That amendment, though, didnโ€™t prevent research. It barred the use of federal money for gun control advocacy, which is certainly a noble goal. After all, gun control is a controversial subject. Tuscon, AZ – A Tucson woman shoots a sex offender, with a handgun, who had tried to break into her home and disarm her. Ukrainian commandos staged a raid in occupied Crimea in a symbolic move on the nationโ€™s Independence Day, as more of Kyivโ€™s forces pressed a counterattack on the mainland thatโ€™s threatening to break through Moscowโ€™s lines.
