Do Americans have the right to own guns? It should come as no surprise that my answer to that question is an emphatic yes. Thatโ€™s made obvious โ€” or should be โ€” through the clear and concise wording of the Second Amendment. When the founders used the phrase โ€œkeep and bear,โ€ the word โ€œright,โ€ and everyoneโ€™s favorite โ€œshall not be infringed,โ€ they probably thought that folks would continue to understand the simple meaning and intent of words as we as a society advance, get smarter and more sophisticated. But thatโ€™s clearly not the case. One only has to wade through…

The Buffalo grocery store killer whoย murdered 10 peopleย a year ago bought his New York-compliant AR pattern rifle legally in New York. That was after heโ€™d been taken into custody and ordered to undergo a psych evaluation because ofย threats heโ€™d madeย about carrying out a shooting. The AR he purchased was apparently equipped with an MA Lock from Mean Arms when he bought it. The MA Lock makes the AR a fixed magazine rifle, but the killer then drilled out the MA Lock, modifying the AR to take standard 30-round magazines. As a result, New York Attorney General Letitia James filed suit today against Mean Arms…

Violence has broken out at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge, a crucial border crossing point between the United States and Mexico, as the southern border crisis continues to boil over. For individuals who live and work close to the border, the current rise of illegal immigration has caused turmoil and danger due to the Biden administrationโ€™s lenient policy. Henry Repeating Arms, a leading American gunmaker, has announced a range of new products and updates, including its first-ever revolver, not just a 360 Buckhammer but two 360 Buckhammer rifles. The Kahr Firearms Group has released the latest edition of their โ€œ45th Presidentโ€ series: the 2023 version of their 2021 Commander in Chief AR15, with an obvious Trump motif and a 16-inch barrel. The previous version, now two years old, was initially a limited edition run. Only 500 were made. Evidently, theyโ€™ve been popular enough that Kahr, in collaboration with Auto Ordnance, decided to bring them back. The rifles are the โ€œfunctional artworkโ€ of the artisans at Auto-Ordnance. This is the same crew responsible for the Trump motif found on the preceding Commander in Chief Auto-Ordnance 1911, Tommy Gun, and…

The fine folks at Streamlight have introduced another illumination device that Iโ€™ve had the pleasure to review. The Streamlight Macrostream USB is a handy, little light that throws serious brightness. The weight of the light is 2.2 ounces with a battery, the length is 4.5 inches, and the body of the light is constructed of aluminum. It carries nicely in the pocket, given its very lightweight and diminutive size. The Macrostream is fairly compact and fits nicely in a pocket. Large enough to get a good purchase, but not so big that itโ€™s a pain to carry. Add to that…

Dual wielding weapons is a technique that looks extremely impressive, but nine times out of ten is not practical. Maybe 99 times out of a hundred, perhaps even more! Though it looks easy in movies (as most truly challenging things do), the only time it is effective is when the user is fully trained, and typically they would have to be well-matched in a fight. There is a rich history behind the skillset, particularly with regard to dual wielding swords or other paired weapon types used in martial arts. But dual wielding in real lifeย today? It doesnโ€™t hold up well…

Former Rep. Gabby Giffords saw her political career, as it was going, put to an end by a madman. No one thinks what happened to her was justified. Itโ€™s not surprising that she recovered and started a gun control group. I donโ€™t think anyone was overly shocked by that. However, many of Giffordsโ€™ supporters have argued over and over again that people like her respect the Second Amendment and just want what they call โ€œcommon senseโ€ gun control. The problem is Gabby didnโ€™t get that memo. As we wrap our interview in her office, I ask how she keeps coming back…
