There’s trouble in paradise for Kari Lake. Arizona Governor-elect Katie Hobbs (D) and Maricopa County have asked a judge to sanction Lake and her attorneys after her long-shot challenge to last month’s gubernatorial loss. Lake, a former TV news anchor and Trump supporter, is facing heightened pressure after Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson ruled against her election challenge on Saturday. According to The Hill, Maricopa County argued that the Republican’s lawsuit constituted harassment, was groundless and not made in good faith. The sanctions motion was joined by Hobbs in both her capacities as governor-elect and secretary of state.…

The Senate passed the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending package coming one step closer to averting a government shutdown. Senators voted 68-29 on Thursday to approve the 4,155-page bill which provides Ukraine with $45 billion in military and economic aid. The Electoral Count Reform Act, a bipartisan bill designed to make it more difficult to overturn a presidential election, made it into the final legislation, as did Sen. Josh Hawley’s (R-MO) measure banning the use of TikTok on government devices, according to The Washington Examiner. In their effort to secure at least 10 Republican votes to avoid a filibuster, Democrats were forced to abandon a…

It’s a sad day in Arizona. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey (R) has agreed to remove the makeshift border barrier after facing a lawsuit from the federal government. Since August, a state agency has been working to close remaining gaps in the U.S.-Mexico border with shipping containers in an effort to help combat the unprecedented number of illegal migrant crossings into the state. Last week, President Biden’s Justice Department sued Arizona and Gov. Ducey for the makeshift barrier, claiming it trespassed on 10 miles of federal lands. It’s not unlike Democrat darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to fire off unprovoked attacks against Republicans and face no consequence, but this time the congresswoman was left speechless. On Twitter, AOC suggested Republicans were to blame for Congress failing to raise the minimum wage last year. Conveniently leaving out the fact Democrats have a majority in the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. “60% of workers report living paycheck-to-paycheck,” the Republican Party tweeted. AOC responded: “And yet y’all still voted against raising the minimum wage.” https://twitter.com/AOC/status/1604955343402029072 Her tweet was a thinly-veiled barb against Republicans, but Twitter fact-checking feature intervened to provide…

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) plans to campaign against the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill that Senate Republicans negotiated with Democrats. Rep. McCarthy is reportedly planning to break with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) during a lunch meeting Wednesday, just a day after Senate leaders agreed to the omnibus, according to Punchbowl News. Congress is expected to give a final vote on the package later on Wednesday. Some House Republicans like Rep. Dan Bishop (N.C.) have criticized specific aspects of the bill aside from its eye-popping $1.7 trillion price tag. The North Carolina Congressman pointed to what he called a…

Vice President Kamala Harris’ latest interview about the U.S.-Mexico border is outright laughable. During an interview with NPR, Harris blamed Republicans for the ongoing border crisis saying lawmakers have been unwilling to engage on the issue. “And sadly, what we have seen in particular, I am sad to say, from Republicans in Congress is an unwillingness to engage in any meaningful reform that could actually fix a lot of what we are witnessing,” Harris told NPR. “I think that there is so much that needs to happen to address the issue,” she told the outlet before adding, “Reform of our…

Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s election lawsuit is moving forward, but there’s a catch. Lake is currently challenging Governor-elect Katie Hobbs’ (D) election-certified victory based on 10 counts. The lawsuit alleges election officials in Maricopa County, which comprises most of the state’s population, allegedly committed misconduct and tabulated hundreds of thousands of illegal ballots. However, on Monday, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson dismissed 8 of the 10 counts. In the ruling Judge Thompson noted that the counts, even if true, do not merit fourth consideration because they did not fall under the proper criteria to bring election challenges under…
