The Department of Justice (DOJ) secured a victory when a federal appeals court agreed to expedite its appeal over the appointment of a special master to review materials seized during a raid of former President Trump’s Florida home. The Supreme Court has ordered a lower court ruling in a controversial Massachusetts gun control law be vacated and readdressed by a lower court. The case, Morin v. Lyver, focuses on a state law that imposes rigid restrictions on the purchase and possession of handguns. The law currently requires Massachusetts residents to obtain a special license just to purchase or have a handgun in possession. The controversial law also goes a step further and includes a lifetime ban on purchasing handguns for anyone convicted of a nonviolent misdemeanor involving the possession or use of guns. The Georgia gubernatorial Democrat candidate claimed to CNN that she “never denied” the outcome of the 2018 race she lost to current Governor Brian Kemp (R). Former President Trump’s legal team has asked the Supreme Court to get involved in the ongoing FBI raid case. Trump is asking the Supreme Court to weigh in on Trump’s legal battle to have a third party review the thousands of pages of government records he stored at his Florida home, according to The Hill. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report has amended its prediction for the Pennsylvania race again in less than two months, shifting the race towards Republicans.
