ANALYSIS – President Joe Biden’s mouth strikes again, this time claiming the U.S. would get involved militarily to defend Taiwan against a Communist Chinese invasion.  This initially appeared to shatter the long-standing U.S. policy of ‘strategic ambiguity’ which does not clearly lay out what a U.S. response to Chinese aggression against Taiwan would entail. Normally, U.S. Marines protect most U.S. embassies overseas. Known as Marine Security Guard (MSG) detachments, they are trained and equipped for the mission of internal security. At the embassy they are directed by State Department Diplomatic Security (DS) agents, usually an RSO and his assistant RSO (Regional Security Officer). DS agents are unique in that they are both federal law enforcement and U.S. foreign service officers (diplomats). Still, in friendly and peaceful environments the Marines and DS agents generally rely on the host nation to provide perimeter security. That’s not the case in Ukraine today, as Kyiv remains under threat of…

One of President Trump’s best foreign policy initiatives (after the Abraham Accords) was resuscitating the informal defense coordination between the United States, Japan, Australia and India to better face China. Part of Trump’s assertive policy to counter China, the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, better known as ‘the QUAD,’ mission is to promote a “free and open Indo-Pacific.” (RELATED: US Responds After China Says Its Forces Surrounded Taiwan in Latest Invasion ‘Rehearsal’) Downplayed by the anti-Trump media, and derided by Chinese officials, the four countries have held two joint naval exercises since 2020. And since President Biden has fully endorsed the group, trying to make it his own,…

Urging Russians not to take ‘information sedatives,’ Mikhail M. Khodaryonok, a retired colonel and columnist on military affairs, noted on a popular Russian TV talk show Monday that the war in Ukraine was not going well for Russia. (RELATED: Russia Warns Sweden and Finland Over NATO) The rare frank assessment left his fellow panelists in stunned silence, except for Olga Skabeyeva, the host, a Putin parrot who religiously follows the Kremlin line. She interrupted Khodaryonok with official talking points in sometimes tense exchanges. The clip was first highlighted by Francis Scarr of BBC Monitoring, which tracks Russian broadcasts. https://twitter.com/BBCSteveR/status/1526329765065539592?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1526329765065539592%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2022%2F05%2F17%2Fworld%2Feurope%2Frussian-state-tv-ukraine-invasion.html According to The…

ANALYSIS – An unclassified May 13 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) memo is warning of a surge in violence surrounding the Supreme Court’s expected ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. (RELATED: DHS Appoints New Controversial Figures to Evaluate ‘Ministry of Truth’) Most seriously, law enforcement agencies are investigating online threats to burn down or storm the Supreme Court building and murder justices and their clerks. The court’s conservative justices have already faced targeted aggressive (and illegal) protests outside their homes following the leak of the draft opinion on reversing Roe v. Wade, and the Senate has approved enhanced security for them. The…

U.S. investigators believe someone in the cockpit deliberately crashed a China Eastern flight in March. Data from one of the plane’s “black box” flight recorders, suggests a crew member, or an intruder in the cockpit, made the inputs to controls that pushed the Boeing 737-800 jetliner into a fatal dive that killed 123 passengers and nine crew members. This model aircraft has long been viewed as a safe and reliable workhorse in the industry. This was China’s deadliest aviation disaster in 28 years. Investigators looking into the crash in southern Guangxi on March 21 are examining whether it was due…
