House Republicans have voted to implement significant changes that they say will ensure the independence of the office and committee investigating allegations of congressional misconduct. The Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) targets Republican lawmakers roughly 60% of the time. OCE and the Committee on Ethics consistently investigate more Republicans, even when Democrats are in the majority. While Democrats maintain OCE is nonpartisan, many Republicans believe it is biased and heavily influenced by left-wing government watchdogs. Empowered by their new majority, Republicans under Speaker McCarthy are taking action to remedy the perceived injustice. The Washington Times has more: House Republicans, seeking…

I am a man. Those four words became synonymous with Black empowerment from the humble beginnings of the great civil rights movement. A movement that transcended politics to address fundamental human decency and ensure America lived up to the ideals outlined in the Constitution. These days both the left and the right like to claim historically revered figures as their own. The phenomenon becomes increasingly common as time marches on and the character flaws of our leaders, known by their contemporaries, slowly fade away. It allows us to deify the secular. This brings me to civil rights leader Martin Luther…

Whataboutism abounds in politics these days. It’s often derided as a straw-man argument to marginalize legitimate criticism. Sometimes, though, it’s worth asking. For example, what if sitting Republican representatives said publicly that their Democratic colleagues were unstable and might gun them down? How would the mainstream media react? It’s safe to assume that pearl-clutching, bordering on pandemonium, would consume the news cycle for several days. You might be surprised to learn that’s what Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., and others told the progressive news website, Raw Story. What’s less surprising is the media’s collective yawn at the ad hominem attacks. Here’s…
