Federal prosecutors recently charged the only candidate running for federal office this cycle who received the endorsement of Black Lives Matter PAC. Prosecutors accused her of helping herself to campaign and state party funds. On no less than four occasions. Now, former Louisiana State Senator Karen Carter Peterson (D) has agreed to a plea deal. A bipartisan group of senators, led by Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) has cut a deal on election reform legislation, making it harder to overturn the results of a presidential election. The development comes after months of behind-the-scenes negotiation to create legislation to ensure an orderly transfer of presidential power. The proposal, unveiled today, has been split into two bills. Per CNN: One of the bills is focused on modernizing and overhauling the Electoral Count Act, an 1887 law that Trump had sought to exploit and create confusion over how Congress counts Electoral College votes from each state. When speaking to New York magazine’s Olivia Nuzzi at his private golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, former President Donald Trump said one reason he might make a presidential campaign announcement before the midterms if, indeed, he does run, would be to dissuade Republican hopefuls who he said: “would actually have a backlash against them if they ran.” However, at least one Republican doesn’t appear to have been dissuaded by Trump’s thinly-veiled warning shot. More interestingly, she happens to be one of his favorite Republicans. Someone who is universally seen as a rising star within the GOP. South Dakota Gov.…

The president of the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) board has an uncompromising new position for the district’s 100,000 students: Mask up or get out. Rising COVID cases have prompted the board of education to return to indoor masking just in time for summer school. On KUSI’s “Good Morning San Diego,” school board President Sharon Whitehurst-Payne reiterated that students enrolled in summer school must comply. The district has yet to decide if indoor masking will be necessary come the fall, but — in perhaps an ominous preview of things to come — Whitehurst-Payne told students who don’t feel comfortable…

President Joe Biden has finished meeting with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas, demonstrating his commitment to reverse lingering Trump-era policies. Abbas and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) were outraged in 2018 when then-President Donald Trump froze Palestinian aid. At the time, the PLO claimed that the United States had violated its financial obligations.  While Biden has been slow to reverse Trump’s foreign policy in the eyes of Palestinian leaders, he has publicly sided with the PLO over Trump on his predecessor’s decision to cut U.S. taxpayer-funded foreign aid. The Associated Press noted that rockets began landing on Israel weeks later. Following today’s meeting with…
