Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., has reached a deal with Brazilian prosecutors in a fraud case from 2008.
Santos agreed to formally confess to defrauding a Rio de Janeiro man of $1,300 in clothing and fully compensating him for those losses.
Prosecutors found the agreement acceptable after being assured by Santos' attorney that the congressman would repay the victim before the deal was finalized.
While petitioning for a non-prosecutorial agreement, Santos' attorney argued that his client was gainfully employed and โre-socialized.โ
Under Brazilian law, non-prosecutorial agreements between the plaintiff and defendant can be made in nonviolent cases where the minimum sentencing is under four years.
CNN further reports:
Santos did not comment when asked about this reporting on Capitol Hill by CNN's Manu Raju. CNN has reached out to attorneys for Santos in Brazil and the United States.
In 2010, Santos told police he wroteย bad checksย from a stolen checkbook belonging to an elderly man his mother cared for to purchase the items.
Santos toldย the New York Post in Decemberย he had not been charged with any crime in Brazil. โI am not a criminal here โ not here or in Brazil or any jurisdiction in the world. Absolutely not. That didn't happen,โ he said at the time.
After Santos left for the United States, Brazilian authorities could not find an address to serve him papers intimating him to appear in court, which eventually led to the archiving of the case, until it was reopened in January.

I really donโt understand why Santos would be considered the most hated congressman? Heck Schumer, McConnell, Pelosi, and a host of Congress monkeys have made life a living hell for millions of citizens, I hate them much more than the knucklehead Santos! With their lying and stealing of our freedoms and wealth!
“…serve him papers intimating him to appear in court…” —- Don’t you mean “summoning” him to appear in court?
Well, whenever I see the term “attorney” in a story about a politician, I immediately turn away. If you need an attorney to speak for a public official, they are obviously in trouble. The news (if you could even call it that) just wags the dog. And guess what, the dog is dead…..just no one notices the smell yet. We do not need attorneys to run the country. Just honest people. Where can we find them? Well, I think I know where. His name is DJT. Wake up folks, otherwise we are all toast.
