Despite leading in their respective party primaries ahead of a 2024 election rematch, most Republicans and Democrats do not consider former President Donald Trump or President Joe Biden their party's leaders and wish someone else were.
The latest Associated Press/NORC survey finds that while 41 percent of Democrats consider Joe Biden to be their party's stated leader, only 12 percent believe he should lead their party.
While Democrats appear to want to move on from Biden, he benefits from a divided field.ย Even with just 12 percent of Democrats believing he should lead their party, he's the most popular named choice, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries the second-most popular choice at only seven percent.
โNo responseโ was the most common answer from Democrats when asked who should lead their party, followed by โOther responseโ at 21 percent.
The numbers are even more gruesome among Republicans and Trump.
Only 18 percent consider Trump the leader of the Republican Party, followed by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy at 11 percent and Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at seven percent.
While 66 percent of Republicans approve of Trump, only 36 percent approve of McCarthy and just 21 percent approve of McConnell.
But while they generally like Trump, only 20 percent of Republicans believe he should still be the leader.
And while Biden benefits from Democrats being unable to decide on an alternative, DeSantis edges out Trump among Republicans when asked who should lead the party, at 22 percent.
โOther responseโ was the second-most popular Republican response at 21 percent, followed by Trump at 20 percent.
Those numbers seem to follow what is being seen in primary polling, with Trump and DeSantis swapping leads in various surveys as Republicans look to nominate someone they feel can defeat Biden, with supporters of Trump pointing to his 2016 win and supporters of DeSantis pointing to Trump's high disapproval rating among voters and DeSantis's 19-point victory in a red-tinged Florida.
The poll also found that among all adults, 53 percent disapproved of Biden, and 62 percent disapproved of Trump.

What planet was this poll taken on???
The demonRATS want to move on, but President Trump is wanted by REAL Republicans, and Rino Ryan, Jeb, and Rove arenโt real republicans and donโt represent the Republican Party.
