A Democrat opposition research firm used a stolen Social Security number to illicitly access the military records of 11 Republican candidates, including two current members of Congress, POLITICO has revealed.
The breach has Republicans asking the Justice Department to investigate whether a crime was committed and asking what Indiana Democrat Congressman Frank Mrvan knew about leaking the record of his Republican opponent, veteran Jennifer Ruth-Green.
โWashington Democrats weaponized military service against Republican candidates. Frank Mrvan must be asked, did he know these records were improperly released and when did he find out?โ said National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Chris Gustafson.
According to POLITICO, Abraham Payton of the Democrat opposition research firm Due Diligence LLC, falsely posing as a prospective employer and using Nebraska Republican Congressman Don Bacon's Social Security number, โinappropriately requested copies of [Bacon's] military personnel records for the stated purpose of employment and benefits.โ
Due Diligence had been hired by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Along with Bacon's records, the records of 11 other Republican candidates were illicitly requested, including current Iowa Republican Congressman Zach Nunn.
โI understand the evidence has been turned over to the Department of Justice and I expect those who break the law to be prosecuted,โ Bacon said in a statement to POLITICO. โThis was more than just โdirty tricks' by Democrat operatives, but likely violations of the law.โ
โNunn also suggested that the disclosure of his records amounted to criminal activity,โ POLITICO reports.
โThe recent targeting of Members of Congress's personnel military records [and] the breach of sensitive data โฆ taken by political hacks isn't only a violation of public trust โ it's criminal,โ said Nunn in a statement.
Green was also among those whose records were illicitly taken.ย
โIn this case, we reviewed our processes on the release of Department of the Air Force records to the public to determine whether the release of your OPR was made by DAF personnel through the Freedom of Information Act process or other official process, such as through Public Affairs,โ Alexander wrote in the Wednesday letter to Green. โWe found that your information was released by the Air Force Personnel Center to a third-party (โDue Diligence'), a private company specializing in public record research without your consent via a SF-180 request.โ
โThe findings indicated that Due Diligence Group LLC requested โPublicly releasable/redacted copy of your OMPF per Freedom of Information Act statutes,'โ Alexander added. โTen interviews of personnel involved in this release who were in roles related to military records, Green's records were used to out her as a victim of a sexual assault while serving in Iraq.โ
Mrvan's campaign split the costs of ads run by the DCCC, creating speculation that Mrvan knew of the illicitly-secured records.

It always surprises me that people do not understand that all democratic politicians cannot be trusted. Democrats have always used underhanded tactics to obtain power, lies are their primary weapons because they are experts at lying and brainwashing. Check history and recent events, e.g. climate change, to understand the truth. They know most people are lazy and like to be lied to rather than to find truth and if caught in an illegal act they will no be punished so they support lawlessness. Pure communist ideology!
This clearly illegal, if the Biden DOJ does not act, it will be an absolute confirmation of how politicized and corrupt it has become.
Demoncraps are just ALWAYS LYING thieves crooks and liars. The godless fools know they canโt win in a straight up confrontation so they resort to total evil corruption with impunity.
Soc. Security #’s are private – that in of itself says the person that used it to gain private information is guilty (and disgusting). Accepting information like that and using it to expose anyone regarding what they want to keep away from the public is a low, disgusting act and she should have the right to sue for damages. She suffered enough in this case and carries the memory of what happened to her back then – she did not need to be reminded about something that was not her fault.

Sadly, weaponizing military information is broadly accepted by hundreds of liberal and democrat operatives, as current and former members of the US military. They started it under Obama.
In his eight years, Obama forced out nearly 300 officers O6 and higher.ย I had noticed the many times he used military only audiences to repeat controversial policies or announce new ones.ย The Pres is the Commander in Chief and protocol requires all officers at a Command or Base to attend. Obama operatives (many of them active duty officers) would report the reactions / comments of officers around them.ย If an officer made a neutral comment, or did not gush enthusiastically enough, operatives reported them for possible violations under the UCMJ. They would have faced one or more of four articles. Article 88 (Contempt toward officials), Article 89 (Disrespect toward a Senior Officer), Article 91, (Insubordination toward a Senior Officer), or Article 134, The General Article (Actions to the prejudice of good order and discipline). Faced with a possible Official Reprimand or Court Martial, most of them already had 20 years service and simply retired.
They were warned to keep quiet, or they would be recalled to Active Duty for Court Martial, and lose everything. (Yes, Officers can be recalled. Title 10 US CFR)
