Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has pledged to sign constitutional carry into law.
As soon as the state legislature passes it.
State Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R-Howey-in-the Hills) filed legislation last month (for the third consecutive year) to bring open carry to Florida. DeSantis' announcement brings Sabatini's long-sought-after proposal one step closer to reality.
Sabatini's legislation, HB 103 โ Carrying of Firearms Without Licenses, has already earned the endorsement of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Gun Owners of America (GOA).
It also bolsters Sabatini's conservative bona fides as he's running for Congress in the newly-redrawn, GOP-leaning 7th Congressional District.
Following DeSantis' announcement, conservative commentator Gabriella Hoffman engaged in a respectful, but assertive back-and-forth on Twitter with Fred Gutenberg, parent of a victim of the Parkland shooting.
As Hoffman accurately said, 25 states currently have constitutional carry. The governors of Indiana, Alabama and Georgia have signed legislation similar to what Florida lawmakers are working on right now.

Desantes : QUIT PLEDGING AND SIGN THE DAMN BILL ALREADY !!!!
“Constitutional carry” is a good idea and should be nationwide. There’s a situation however that could develop. People that are not paying attention to their surroundings and are carrying open may find themselves in the situation where their gun is taken out of their holster by a “bad guy” or guys. All of a sudden it’s an uh oh moment and the bad guy has your gun. I suggest concealed carry would be a safer alternative.
