Police in Cranston, Rhode Island, have released body cam footage from the arrest of then-Cranston City Council member Matthew Reilly (R).
Officers arrested Reilly on drug possession charges after finding him passed out in a vehicle with cocaine and fentanyl. A passerby alerted law enforcement about Reilly, who appeared, to them, to have medical issues.
Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins (R) confirmed Reilly resigned from his position Thursday.
NBC 10 WJAR has more:
โI hereby submit my resignation as the Ward Six City Councilperson, effective immediately,โ Reilly's one-sentence letter said.

The police video records Reilly talking to an officer and denying there were drugs in his car. Reilly also said he's been going through a bad divorce.
Reilly is an attorney by profession.
โEarly this morning my office assisted Matt Reilly and filed his letter of resignation from the Cranston City Council as the Ward Six councilmember,โ Hopkins said in a statement. โMatt made the right decision to step down so that he can focus his full attention on his well-being and young family.โ
Rhode Island GOP Chairman Joe Power applauded Reilly's decision, calling it the best possible outcome for his family and constituents.

With the popularity of Democrats going down the tubes, it doesn’t surprise me that they are starting to run as “Republicans” in order to get elected to office.
Has 2 be a RINO to use crack pipe
He’s NO one I’D vote for . . . Democrat OR Republican.
