Special counsel Jack Smith has requested Jan. 2, 2024, as the start date for former President Donald Trump's trial on charges related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, with jury selection beginning one month before that.
Smith argued the requested date would โvindicate the public's strong interest in a speedy trial.โ
CNBC reports:
That interest is โof particular significanceโ in a case involving an ex-president accused of conspiring to subvert a democratic election โand discount citizens' legitimate votes,โ Smith wrote in the eight-page filing.
Smith's office estimated that its case would take no longer than four to six weeks to present to jurors.
The court filing also said that Smith expects to have โsubstantially completedโ the production of evidence to be turned over to Trump by Aug. 28.

Anyone who doesn’t think this is political is as stupid as the Dem/Commies think they are.
Obviously he wants to stir things up during the Primary, All of the Democrats are really concerned that Trump will be elected and then they will regret all their stupid nonsense. And the DOJ will get straightened out so that those truly guilty of criminal acts will be prosecuted.
And in this kangaroo ๐ฆ court Smith gets whatever he wants! Washington DC has no justice! It is all tribalism in that place!
