ANALYSIS โ President Joe Biden just made his most strident warning to Russia over Vladimir Putin's threats to use nuclear weapons over Ukraine.
While Biden was criticized for making these serious claims at a fundraiser, possibly unscripted, the comments underscore the increasing danger of the Russian nuclear threat.
They also highlight the need for increased preparation and civil defense measures in the U.S. and NATO countries.
As APย reports:
Speaking at a Democratic fundraiser, Biden said Thursday night that Russian President Vladimir Putin is โa guy I know fairly wellโ and the Russian leader is โnot joking when he talks about the use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons.โ
Biden added, โWe have not faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis.โ He suggested the threat from Putin is real โbecause his military is โ you might say โ significantly underperforming.โ
Biden added, in reference to Russian military doctrine that emphasizes the use of tactical nukes:
I don't think there is any such a thing as the ability to easily use a tactical nuclear weapon and not end up with Armageddon.
I have written about Russia's nuclear doctrine and the dangers of its vast superiority over the U.S. and NATO in tactical nuclear capabilitiesย hereย and here.
As per my most recent analysis, Putin appears to be signaling his intent and/or willingness to use nukes.
One signaling move was the deploying of the massive nuclear submarine, the Belgorod, armed with a Poseidon nuclear torpedo, from its Arctic base.
Additionally, CBS Newsย reports, from an unverified video, that a Russian train was spottedย transporting equipment from a Russian military unit that handles nuclear weapons.
But other than warning Russia of โcatastrophic' consequences, what are we doing to prepare for the possibility of a โlimited' nuclear attack on U.S. or NATO soil?
Well, apparently there is some minor movement in that regard.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) justย purchased $290 million of anti-radiation medication.
According to a press releaseย publishedย on Tuesday, HHS'sย Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), confirmed the purchase of the drug Nplate, described as a medication โapproved to treat blood cell injuries that accompany acute radiation syndrome in adult and pediatric patients (ARS).โ
โARS, also known as radiation sickness, occurs when a person's entire body is exposed to a high dose of penetrating radiation, reaching internal organs in a matter of seconds,โ the release stated.
While HHS insisted the large purchase is โpart of long-standing, ongoing efforts to be better prepared to save lives following radiological and nuclear emergencies,โ the big drug buy was approved days before Biden warned of potential nuclear armageddon.
Meanwhile, some of America's biggest states have started warning residents to prepare for a nuclear emergency over Putin's ongoing atomic threats.
Unfortunately, the state government messages are lacking substance. Others worry they are a veiled attempt to control Americans.
As Newsmaxย reported:
Taking seriously Putin's threats to use โall the means at our disposalโ amid Russia's continued war in Ukraine, New York and New Jersey have begun deploying their own public service announcements geared toward prepping Americans in the event of a nuclear attack on the homeland.
As part of September's โNational Preparedness Month,โ New Jersey public buses featured large transit ads on their sides asking โDo you know what to do in a radiation emergency?โ
The ad offers citizens a three-step guide: โgo inside, stay inside, and stay tuned for news updates.โ
Similar PSA-style ads have been spotted in New Jersey shopping malls and even inside New York City subways.
However, this type of limited message is sorely lacking. As Newsmax explains:
Experts say the biggest issue with the message is that it lacks the lifesaving information pertinent for this type of catastrophic event.
โThese ads are likely to cause panic, but lack the most basic information that could save millions of lives outside the zone of complete destruction,โ said Dr. Jane Orient, president of Doctors for Disaster Preparedness.
Dr. Orient added that while general awareness about a potential nuclear emergency is good, the PSA lacks vital information and โseems designed to get people cowering inside indefinitely and depending on a totally unprepared government.โ
As the danger of nuclear conflict rises over Ukraine, we must do much more to prepare our citizens for the possibility of an atomic bomb (or bombs) detonating on U.S. soil.ย ALD

We know Putin has the guts, and is stupid enough, to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. The big question is, does NATO, or the US, have the guts to respond in kind? Europe is the ones that will suffer the most first because once released the radiation can’t be stopped. Will it then go from “tactical” nukes to full blown nuclear war? If it does there will be no winners, mankind will be the big loser.
As Ben Franklyn said, “We should all study our history or we’re doomed to repeat it.” Looking back through the 20th century. WW1 fielded an army that was poorly equipped and trained It had 3 things going for it. The 1903 Springfield rifle, the 1911 Colt pistol a d a bunch of country boys who knew how to use them. We had a Democrat administration. WW2, we got totally unprepared. We knew Japan was going to attack but didn’t know when or where. Again, a Democrat administration. Korea, we knew North Korea was going to attack but our troops were poorly equipped with obsolete equipment and were not in place. That time we had poor leadership with the ‘great’ general, MacArthur in command along with a Democrat administration. Viet Nam, I think we all know what a fiasco that mess was. Democrat administration with a bunch of congressmen who’d never heard the shot fired in anger playing general. Every time we were definitely not prepared for the job and our military people were totally hung out to dry. First gulf war. The president told the pentagon what he wanted, got out of the way and let the military run military operations. It was over in a matter of hours and one could count casualties on one’s fingers. We had a Republican administration. We now have Biden who calls himself a Democrat but is nothing less than either a Socialist or Fascist. So what happens now? Biden is trying to pick a fight with Putin. According to reports we have something like 200 nuclear weapons while Russia has about 2,000. Biden’s war won’t be like WW2. It will be slam bam and we won’t have time to mobilize like in 1941.
I yield to nobody in my dislike for Biden and his party. However, calling anything currently going on “Biden’s war” is just wrong. It is clearly Putin’s war and Russia is clearly the villain. We are faced with a stare-down situation where our guy is a long-time fool who also has dementia. It all hinges on whether Putin is as nuts as his rhetoric. Tough times and if we survive it ALL of you who voted for Biden should remember who gave us the long-time fool with dementia and a legislature who is in lock step with him. Sadly, you won’t.
We “know” nothing of the kind.
“We know Putin has the guts, and is stupid enough, to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.” We “know” nothing of the kind. You may think so, but you certainly do not “know” so.

Cut off that senile s.o.b.’s mike , give him his pudding cup and send him off somewhere for his nappy… We have no room for an idiot to be at the helm and make saber rattling, provocative statements like this. He is no JFK…
You are so correct! I actually got a chuckle when reading your comment. Thank you, have the same sentiment!
The poor old fellow…He was quoted for a comment ‘off the record’ near a live mike: ‘Nobody f***s with a Biden.’ Let’s be kind to the man. How could such a figure of august status utter such an untoward and inappropriate expletive? What he obviously intended to say was: ‘Nobody sucks like a Biden.’
I loved your latest comment, so true!
OK Joe now what??
Dump Woke now
In my humble opinion, bidenโs Arrogant statements brings us one step closer to world war three. He thinks putin is afraid of him. NOT SO! Putin is fully aware of how inept Biden is, along with his puppet master Obama almighty! This is a red flag operation to take our attention away from chinaโs encroachment on our soil! There is no doubt that Putin could decide to use nukes in the Ukraine if he feels he is trapped. Biden is a big mouthed idiot, challenging Putin. Biden is fully aware that we are ill equipped for any such confrontation, but he thinks he can bully Putin. That wil just make him more determined to prove the old fool wrong. Biden should NOT be in office! His arrogance gets in the way of common sense( if he has any) and causes more problems, which we do not need. His big ignorant mouth will get us into a war on several fronts! Guess that is what he wants.
No the Dems concerns and motto is in batteries we trust. Now what jets and tanks run on batteries these days?
