U.S. Central Command released a report indicating U.S. forces have killed a senior Islamic State leader in a raid.
The early Monday helicopter raid in northern Syria targeted an unnamed operational planner responsible for orchestratingย attacks in the Middle East and Europe, in a raid that โresulted in the probable death of the targeted individual,โ CENTOM said.
โTwo other armed individuals were killed on the target,โ though no civilians were assessed as killed or injured, the statement claimed.ย ย
โThough degraded, ISIS remains able to conduct operations within the region with a desire to strike beyond the Middle East,โ CENTCOM Commander Gen. Erik Kurilla, said in the release. โWe will continue the relentless campaign against ISIS.โย
CENTCOM officials say such missions disrupt ISIS's ability to plot and carry out operations.ย

The โunilateralโ strike in northwestย Syria, carried out [April 4], killedย Khalidย โAydd Ahmad al-Jabouri,ย CENTCOM headย Gen. Erik Kurillaย said in the statement.ย
The statement noted that al-Jabouri was a seniorย ISISย figure who โwas responsible for planning ISIS attacks intoย Europeย and developing the leadershipโ structure of ISIS inย Turkey.ย ย
โISIS continues to represent a threat to the region and beyond,โ Kurilla said. โThough degraded, the group remains able to conduct operations within the region with a desire to strike beyond the Middle East.โย
