A judge has sentenced the founder of Black Lives Matter Memphis to six years in prison for illegally registering to vote.
Pamela Moses, 44, registered to vote in 2019 despite having a lengthy criminal record. Her conviction for evidence tampering made her ineligible to vote. (RELATED: FBI Director Denies Bureau Tougher on Capitol Rioters Than Violent BLM Thugs)
The Post Millennial explains:
On April 29, 2015, Moses pled guilty to tampering with evidence and forgery, both felonies, and to misdemeanor counts of perjury, stalking, theft under $500 and escape, and was placed on probation for seven years.
The 10-count indictment came in 2015 after she was accused of stalking and harassing a Shelby County judge between February and March 2014, as well as impersonating an attorney and a notary public in an attempt to file a Tennessee Board of Judicial Conduct complaint against General Sessions Judge Phyllis Gardner,ย accordingย to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Despite her convictions, Moses claimed that no one told her that she had lost the right to vote.
โThey never mentioned anything about voting. They never mentioned anything about not voting, being able to vote โฆ none of that,โ Moses said in an interview with The Guardian. (RELATED: The Most Egregious District Attorneys in America: Self-Proclaimed Saviors of America's Criminals)
However, The Washington Post added that Judge Michael Ward didn't find Moses' excuse convincing. During Moses' sentencing, Ward accused her of deception.
โYou tricked the probation department into giving you documents saying you were off probation,โ Ward said in court.
However, Ward added that he would consider placing Moses on probation after nine months of good behavior.
Moses' attorney, Bede Anyanwu, said her client plans to appeal the ruling.
