CNN's Don Lemon was left in the dust when royal commentator Hilary Fordwich rebutted his argument that the United Kingdom should pay reparations for colonialism.
Following Queen Elizabeth IIโs funeral on Monday, the CNN host quickly went off the rails when he attempted to interject his liberal views into commentary on the immense wealth of the monarchy. Fordwich agreed with Lemon's argument that reparations should be paid but not by the Crown โ by Africa.
โWell, this is coming when, you know, there's all of this wealth and you hear about it comes as England is facing rising cost of living, living crisis, austerity, budget cuts and so on,โ Lemon began.
โAnd then you have those who are asking for reparations for colonialism. And they're wondering, you know, $100 billion, $24 billion here and there, $500 million thereโ the CNN host continued. โSome people want to be paid back and members of the public are wondering why are we suffering when you are, you know, you have all of this vast wealth. Those are legitimate concerns.โ
โWell, I think you're right about reparations in terms of if people wanted, though. What they need to do is you always need to go back to the beginning of a supply chain. Where was the beginning of the supply chain. That was in Africa,โ Fordwich rebutted. โAnd when that crossed the entire world when the slavery was taking place, which was the first nation in the world that abolished slave โ slavery. The first nation in the world to abolish it, it was started by William Wilberforce, was the British. In Great Britain, they abolished slavery. Two thousand naval men died on the high seas trying to stop slavery. Why? Because the African kings were rounding up their own people. They had them on cages waiting in the beaches. No one was running into Africa to get them.โ
โAnd I think you're totally right. If reparations need to be paid, we need to go right back to the beginning of that supply chain and say, who was rounding up their own people and having them handcuffed in cages. Absolutely. That's where they should start,โ Fordwich concluded.
The verbal smackdown comes on the heels of Lemon's demotion. Last week CNN announced his solo primetime show,ย โDon Lemon Tonight,โ was over and Lemon is being moved to help helm the network's struggling morning news show.ย

The first rational statement about “reparations” that I’ve heard. Thank you Hilaryย Fordwich!
Are you telling us that slavery was really not a whitey thing.
I agree Africa and africans should be paying the white people of the United States reparations plus all the welfare and freebies we have spent on those racist and freeloaders making these claims.
Once again the racist clown shows his true self. Seems the royal reporter was a bit more upto speed on pre US history.
Africa tribal system during that time period was to war with rival tribes, capture those not killed and sell them into slavery. The Spanish not wanting to miss out on the next money train, was only too happy to transport the captured Africans into the Caribbean islands to French, Spanish and Portuguese sugar growers. Now England not wanting to be left out started to import them into the colonies to the loyal British plantation owners and the elite rich in Boston, New York and Philly.
But hey Lemon cares not about truth but name recognition. No wonder he is unemployed.
People need to get past โreparations.โ $#!+ happens!!! Get a damned job and work! Stop looking for handouts!
Exactly. Everyone on earth has had injustices transpire, but most realize it’s part of life and get on with it. This BS fits in with all the “poor, poor me” rhetoric used by millions on the left who have drank entirely too much Kool-aid and been brainwashed by the MSM! Grow up people! ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ค ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐
Mike, the poor, poor me attitude comes from the democratic white slave owner politicians. They’ve been hammering blacks for decades telling them they have been oppressed and insulting their intelligence. Many blacks are seeing the light and are tired of being told they can’t be responsible for their own lives. If anyone is keeping blacks on the plantation, so to speak, it’s the democratic party.
Love that!
So, we’re in a spiraling, closing circle of finger-pointing. Time to let it flush away.
This jerk is a fn stupid fool. If CNN wants to get better they have to get rid of him.
Whoa! Talk about a SMACKDOWN!! We need more of this.
Good for her! That should have put Lemon in his place but I bet it didnโt. He is too stupid and holier than thou to understand. CNN should just can his ass and be done with it. He is of no use to the network. He pontificates on all his ignorant ideology instead of telling the news! What a waste he is!
You got it right, Patty. Thanx
That was a mic drop of all mic drops. But how disgusting to try to bring up reparations on the queens passing. CNN and Lemon have zero class.
It becomes clear why Don Lemon was demoted. He has little background in history and what he has, there’s little acumen to digest or apply it. One hears from him only the shopworn stock of leftist talking points.
Smart lady! She knows history!
My friend is a direct descendant of a soldier in the U.S. Army who fought to return the southern states to the Union and end slavery during the Civil War. He has the records, uniform, and rifle to prove it. Nobody in that family has ever even considered putting a hand out for “reparations”.
